Openly honored a fricking deserter in the Rose Garden.

What a disgrace that fricking idiot is to this country.

I'm no fan of Obama, but I think he probably gets a little (small "l") too much criticism from those here.

HOWEVER, the Bergdahl situation was a fricking embarrassment for which he deserves immense criticism. It was bad enough the guy deserted and allowed himself to be captured...thus getting some of his fellow soldiers killed trying to find him. But the fact that Obama not only traded 5 terrorist to get him back, BUT had a goddamn ceremony at the White House for this guy was a COMPLETE slap in the face to the military.

o what are his possible sentences?

They tell The Associated Press that Bergdahl will submit the plea later this month and sentencing will start Oct. 23. The individuals weren't authorized to discuss the case and demanded anonymity. The 31-year-old Bergdahl could face up to five years in prison on the desertion charge and a life sentence for misbehavior.

Good.

And what a slap in the face to Obama. This is his favorite soldier. He had a goddamn parade for the mother fricker.

He should get the death penalty.

"There are lots of ways to serve for instance bowe served the American people by deserting and in doing so would help to preserve the rights of NFL players to one day schit on the American flag during the playing of our national anthem!"

What is so flipping crazy is we trade terrorist and had a parade for someone who deserted the very thing that protects our country abroad but leave some men to die in Libya and basically sanctioned a torture of a college student in North Korea.

That to me is what makes me mad about this whole deal.

I get it, he did not want to be in the Army and deserted, it happens. But then the government more than triples down on the stupidity and celebrates a criminal and leaves men to die who did nothing wrong.

What kind of Pre-trial deal did the PoS get? Those are typically binding at courts martial.

There was no way the Army was trying this case. He will be reduced to E1 (but his disability pay will be E5), a BCD etc. Lots of tough talk and harumphing then credit for time served all done, move along.

I think I remember you or Wolfhound saying something similar a few years back. Probably the way it’ll go.

he has been milking this for for awhile blaming a lot of peoples comments on tainting his trial.

The desertion charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and the misbehavior charge carries a possible life sentence.

Maybe they were wise and delayed filing charges until after Obama was out of office.

Yep, they are going to let him plead to desertion, drop the misbehaving, it looks like.

LTG Buchanan will see this through as the GCMCA.

He recently handled a case presented by my former command. Led to the reduction of an NCO from MSG to PV1 (based on Chapter 10 plea deal ILO CM).

Tough but fair.
