Oh I'm sure he is a good guy but some of the facts in this case would be devastating to the Army. So you do a plea, then the judge gives him the firing squad at sentencing, then they open the envelope and E1, Big Chicken Dinner, time served.
If he gets "time" it will be at psych facility and it wont be much.

My personal take. Reduction to E1, time served, BCD. The wild card is he is a Regiment guy.

It is murky as I understand it. It was always my impression that the CSA does not have UCMJ authority. If I am wrong and he does have the authority, then I doubt GEN Milley will let him walk. Need Ace Midnight to weigh in.

Still can't believe we traded five terrorists to get him back. I wouldn't have traded five MRE's for him.

Here is the genesis of the problem for the Army, this guy had a psych eval while trying to get into the CG, it was bad and said not fit for military service. Apparently it was done by a DoD doc so its in the DoD system. Apparently that doc came up during his Army enlistment, we said frick it, put him in the infantry, gave him a rifle and sent him to
Afghanistan.
Thats just the beginning, there were MANY problems in theater before and after he walked off. Big mess.
There was a cover up 15-6 that was very favorable (to Bergdahl) and one that actually captured most of the facts. Both are admissible. Like I said not good for the Army.
