Boeing wins Air Force contract for NGAD next-gen fighter
Boeing's selection to produce the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) fighter is a game-changer for the company's challenged defense arm.

WASHINGTON — Boeing has won an Air Force contract to develop a new, sixth-generation fighter that officials emphasize will be critical to maintain America’s air supremacy over China, Breaking Defense has learned.
The aerospace giant’s victory in the Air Force’s Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program gives Boeing the opportunity to build a new fighter jet at a time when its F/A-18 line is nearing closure, a major lifeline for the company’s St. Louis facility. The win also helps boost the aerospace giant’s defense business, which has suffered billions of dollars in losses in recent years stemming from a series of ill-performing fixed-price contracts, and comes at a time when Boeing’s commercial arm is still in turmoil.
Boeing bested Lockheed Martin in the NGAD competition, ending Lockheed’s status as the sole prime contractor producing stealth fighters in the West — namely the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. A third competitor, Northrop Grumman, dropped out of the competition in 2023 but is expected to compete for a new Navy fighter jet.
Boeing is a terrible, terrible company...so yeah i'm a little surprised

I've held Boeing for quite a few years, until they get a serious domestic competitor I'll continue to hold some of their stock.

wasn't the F-22 Raptor considered a huge success for LMT?
i know this will be a completely different platform with autonomous options entering the fray, but kinda risky going with a shitty company like BA

Same Boeing that stranded the Astronauts?
I know it's a different division. But I wouldn't trust them.

I don’t think they’re irredeemable, and Trump still loves them. His personal jet is the 757, which is the greatest passenger jet ever built. Maybe this will give them a much needed boost to get their shite together.

The more DEI and Wokeism are crushed the better chance Boeing has of getting back to being a great company, the next step would be moving their HQ and all production out of WA.

Space X needs to have a jet fighter division just to see the sky screamer's heads explode.
In fact, that would be a perfect name for Musk's 1st Gen fighter. Skyscreamer

Boeing now has an engineer as CEO after a long line of terrible mistakes. Hopefully they can get back in the lead and let the bean counters stand off on the sidelines.

So glad they were rewarded for all of their hard work.

Boeing has done some good things with keeping the F15 platform modern and operational. That said the F15 is an ancient platform that was developed long before the McDonnell Douglas / Boeing merger.
Boeing doesn't really have a recent combat aircraft and our current stealth and platforms F22 / F35 have all been developed by Lockheed. They were critically delayed and massively over-budget on development of both which may have something to do with the change in direction.
Northrup Grumman built the CNI systems and L3Harris developed the AMS, They'll likely be a requirement for the new fighter to integrate with the existing fleet.

And one month or less after Boeing rolls out their prototype, China will roll out theirs which looks remarkably similar to ours. Funny how that works...

Where was DOGE to stop this?

Were there F-36, F-37,..., F-46's that I missed?
