This in response to the Drudge Report piece that Bloomberg was considering Hillary Clinton for running mate. Somebody needs to read up their Constitution, Article II, Section 3, Prez and VP can’t be from same state. Doubt that anyone from Bloomberg campaign actually said this

The Drudge Report piece said Bloomberg was considering moving to Florida so that he could put her on the ticket...

Probably a leftover from when State's appointed Senators.

She'll just move to Arkansas again. Nothing but a carpet bagger anyway.

Actually for lower taxes.

He just won't say that.

I’d say, if Bloomberg wants that millstone around his neck, so be it...one of the stranger things I’ve read over the last couple of days.

I read previously that they could be from the same state, but they would forfeit that state’s electoral votes.

There's no doubt in my mind that if they ran on the same ticket and by some miracle won, Hillary would have him killed. Maybe even before he was inaugurated.

Does it say anything about a serial killer being on the ticket?

Asking for a friend.

Huh?

I think a better reading would be that electors from one state cant vote twice for the same candidate (i.e. vice president and presidnt, it has to be one for each).

Article II, Section 3
quote:

He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.

I think this is the truth at any rate.

George Bush Jr. and Dick Chaney are from the same state...

It has to do with a rule stating that an elector cannot cast two votes for two people who share the same state as the elector. Usually it wouldn't be an issue. Only when elections are close. It almost mattered in the 2000 election because Bush and Chaney are both from Texas, but even then it didn't matter.

Dick Cheney is from Wyoming, and accordingly, cast his 2000 ballot in Jackson Hole.

IIRC: Cheney changed to Wyoming or something like this- to be W's Veep they were both TX?

It is an easy technicality to fix.

HRC owns various homes, she could move to DC.

He meant Article II, Section 1, Clause 3, which was superseded by the 12th Amendment.
quote:

The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves
