I think it's worse for Howard and the black students there if it was intentional.
It means the trolls predicted they were black racists and intellectual midgets, and they were correct.
I can't figure out how it being intentional would be a defense of Howard.
Either you are a bigot or you are not. Those students at Howard have been shown as bigots. That behavior would get you kicked out of many colleges, but it's apparently promoted at Howard.
I can't imagine the national news if an opposite situation occurred.
