Bill called himself a “centrist”. He really believes that.

Also eye opening that Trump acts like a totally different person in public than what he did with Maher.

Not shocking at all. If you listen to the people who know him best and have for many years, they all say the same thing. What Bill should realize is that Trump has a public persona he has had his whole life (tough guy, edgy, in your face), When he became president, that persona became even more important. There are assholes all over the world that don't respect weak leaders.

It's common for leftists who live in a bubble to believe this. They think they're in the center because everyone they know and associate thinks the same way they do. I grew up in Lafayette and when I was a kid, I thought Catholics were the majority around the world because I went to Catholic school and everyone I knew was Catholic. It's like that.

Trump is a born & bred New Yorker.

What would be considered being an a-hole in other parts of the country is not the same in the northeast. The culture is just more crude and bold. I've always figured Trump's insults were a part of this and a bit of showmanship.

That's not entirely true. In 2016, Fox and Friends had call in interviews with him many mornings.

True, but you have to take into account the full context of their having those interviews (not just Fox, but much of the other established media). That context had two primary points: Hillary was the presumptive winner but didn't draw ratings and Trump's candidacy was a joke but he drew ratings.

Everyone thought he had no chance on God's green earth of winning and that his candidacy was a bit like the old professional wrestling kayfabe. To them, it was a lie they had to pretend to go along with in order to keep the show going, and they did so with a wink and a grin to make sure everyone knew that they knew it was fake (see: Ann Coulter on Maher's show in 2015).

Holy shite Josh Rogin is super annoying and punchable. Constantly interrupting with his nasally, uppity tone.

And a few others, but it was mostly true.

Yeah well it’s surprising to some to realize it’s all an act on camera. I don’t know that it’s necessary, but he must think so for some reason.

You think millions of pissed off middle and lower class Americans would run through a wall for him if he was kind and empathetic?

Also, many (most) of his adversaries foreign and domestic only respect brute force.

I refuse to give Bill Maher one second of my time.
He's irrelevant. frick that guy. If he isn't intelligent enough to recognize whats best for America by now, he never will. He can eat shite and die.
