I thought that some of these were already banned.
It is just more lip service. There was a man arrested yesterday for this in Morgan City.
Enforce the laws on the books instead of making new ones that cover the same issues.

According to reports, Forrest William Sullivan was identified as the owner of the firearm. Sullivan had been incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center due to a prior arrest by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office since March 01, 2024.
Investigators were able to determine upon inspection of the firearm, that it had been modified, rendering the weapon fully automatic.
Reports indicate that investigators met with Mr. Sullivan at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Sullivan allegedly admitted to the AR-15 Rifle being his and that he modified the weapon which made the functionality of the firing mechanism to be fully automatic.
Research indicated that Mr. Sullivan was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to being convicted of Domestic Violence Offenses. Warrants were prepared for Sullivan's arrest.
Sullivan was booked on the charges and remains incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center where he now awaits court proceedings.

Gun confiscation isnt going to happen. If anything it would be a repeat of the 10 year ban on from 94-04 and applied only to weapons manufactured after the date of the ban's enactment. That being said I wouldnt wait around to purchase one if that is your interest.

Exactly. “Assault weapons” or fully automatic weapons, have already been illegal for 37 years. Everything is either semi-automatic or bolt-action. What part of this does the anti-gun crowd not understand?

Yessir. I can get one, with the proper fees paid to Daddy Govt. But few people have "assault rifles" laying around. We have civilian semi autos.

Their goal is to keep broadening the category of “assault weapons” to include pistols and shotguns. They will not stop until every type of firearm requires a permit to own.
In the UK, you have to have a permit just to own a fricking shotgun. And if you have any diagnosed condition like anxiety or depression that you disclose to your doctor, that gets sent to a registry that law enforcement has access to. If you try to purchase a firearm, the LEO there will look you up and once they see you have anxiety or depression, they’ll deny your request

Fully automatic weapons are expensive as hell. They can cost anywhere from $15,000 to $30,000 due to the supply of them being so low and the demand being so high.
