you know this is the actual line that many have drawn. I hope they do it.

I'm curious - what happens when this line is crossed?

You only have 3 constitutionalists on the Supreme Court, the rest are activists

When you guard your palace with armed troops and tell the people the can’t be armed. Ole man is setting himself up for quite the fireworks.

I’d have to research it but I’m pretty certain that not a single one on the guns he’s talking about has been used in a homicide.

Like that matters. They aren't trying to solve any actual problems. Nearly every "common sense gun control " measure ever proposed would not have prevented any of the shootings it sought to stop. AR15's kill less people than hammers, but that is what they want to ban. All long guns combined kill very few people each year.

President Joe Biden provided a hint of what to expect while speaking to reporters on the tarmac en route to his home in Delaware on Friday afternoon and mentioned guns that are “made by 3D equipment.””

I mentioned in a previous thread that home builds are in the cross hairs. Obviously none of us know exactly what his EO will entail but I'm guessing not just 3D printed parts but 80% receivers will also get targeted.

Par for the course none of that would have prevented a mass shooting.

You still have faith in a clearly compromised SCOTUS?

I'll admit I don't understand executive orders very well but if they have the power to basically conjure up laws what is the point of the legislative branch?
in many cases, the legislative branch has given the executive branch wide latitude and discretion to issue regulations to carry out the law.

That can apply to Trump’s bump stock ban or a governor or Secretary of State changing election processes. Both cases have their detractors (and I see the Trump bump stock ban had another judicial setback this week).

EO were abused under Obama, Trump, & now Biden.

Evolution on the use of EO’s is troubling.

Isn't that why we have the second amendment?

Stop voting for an initial behind a name. We desperately need to get normal people with common sense elected to DC instead of soulless puppet career politicians.

Our system selects for those soulless politicians. In an elected system, like we have, that will always be your normal.

Good people will be the exception.

Ancient Athens had the same problem, and they never found a solution to it.

An educated and involved populace is supposed to be the check. If our populace is too lazy and apathetic to check the government we deserve what we get.

And if he does, then that's his arse

So far every executive order he's signed has had the effect of a law. Ditto a gun control mandate.

I think it’s a fundamental and inevitable structural flaw.

The worst people in society are the most likely to run for office, and the most likely to win office.

Elections are not an effective way of selecting good men, or removing bad ones.

The Greeks tried a number or different solutions, including assigning office by random lottery.

But they never solved it.

In their experience, Democracy inevitably decayed into oligarchy. And I think you can see that all across the world. It’s true here in America, but it’s also true in places like Russia.

This is a Supreme Court of whose 9 current members, 6 were nominated by Republican presidents. Hardly a liberal court, by any stretch of imagination.

Yet conservatives still complain about the Court.
