I'm surprised there's even a handful of people willing to back him. And then I look at Biden, and I guess I'm not as surprised anymore.

No but the court jester conservatives guaranteed supported stricter policies statewide that live in the urban centers

This guy wants to tax churches out of existence. Imagine how that's going to play with Latino and black churches and latinos and blacks are very religious.

He also wants to take away guns...in Texas.

This is not the Texas of old. He might not win but he won’t lose in a landslide. The major cities are going blue and even the suburbs—full of the very people who want to avoid the urban problems—are trending blue. For some unknowable reason.

I don’t think he’ll win, as milquetoast Republicans will vote R, but it’ll be closer than you think. Just like with the senate race.

I think he will. The campaign against him is simple. If I was his campaign manager it’s this easy: “Remember Andrew Cuomo, everything he did, people calling themselves Cuomosexuals, and that he was the hero against the Orange Man? Yeah, multiply that by 10. That’s how bad Beto will be.”

One of my best buds is a native houstonian. Lifelong Dem. loves guns. Still votes Dem Bc he thinks gun control is just a conservative boogeyman.

You just can’t explain some things.

Same reason why Vitter was able to win a Senate race but not a Gubernatorial one. People in Louisiana were okay with sending him away to DC but the retards didn't like it that if he was Governor he would be at home in Louisiana and we'd have to deal with his baggage.

I agree. It was also Vitter's fault that he didn't appreciate the threat that JBE posed to him until it was too late. He literally let JBE sneak into the runoff uncontested. That kind of political malpractice is downright criminal and he earned the loss based on that alone.

With that said, too bad those retard Louisiana voters didn't read the fine print about JBE and what he really is and how his baggage was really so much worse than Vitter's being that he's a member of one of the most corrupt families in Louisiana and he's an echo of Huey Long and Edwin Edwards, the two most corrupt and worst Governors in Louisiana history.

Vitter for JBE? That was and stil is the worst trade in Louisiana history.

The 2015 Louisiana Governor's race is the Fyre Festival of Louisiana politics.

I think you could persuade him to keep him at home. Again, compare him to Andrew Cuomo and you should win landslide.

Yeah, keep in mind that Massachusetts is very fond of Republican Governors. I’m thinking Beto gets 40% of the vote. And this is coming from someone who used to live in Texas. Compare him constantly to Andrew Cuomo or even Gavin Newsom, and they’ll get crushed even by Democrats who fled California and New York.

I hope you’re right. I just see the blue cancer infiltrating all major population centers of Texas. Even Fort Bend County, a suburb county of Houston and full of middle class family people who don’t want to deal with the urban blight, voted in a goddamn lefty lunatic as DA and a slew of lefty judges.

People think differently when it comes to governors and mayors than they do with President and representatives. The governors of Massachusetts and Maryland are Republicans, and both have a history of preferring Republican governors despite being overwhelmingly Democratic. Beto doesn’t stand a fricking chance against Abbott, especially with the current border crisis.

In 2015 Louisiana, I remember retards on this board and out in public saying that the GOP legislature was going to check and balance JBE and control what he does so it was okay to vote against Vitter and send him packing.

They really believed that Louisiana's GOP legislature is as partisan as other legislatures in the south and Midwest.

I told them that opinion showed how ignorant they are about how Louisiana politics really works and historically, the Louisiana Governor rules the roost over the legislature and they will not do any worthwhile checking and balancing of JBE like they believe will happen.

Hopefully, they've been getting quite the education and rude awakening the past 8 years.

Texas Latinos in the RGV are going to swamp democrats and RINOs in the suburbs of Houston and Dallas and deliver the win to the GOP.

They're the biggest reason why Trump won Texas last year with ease and it's going to be worse for democrats next year as long as the border crisis continues.

Another point in my favor on people voting differently for governors than Presidents. People like a wall between them and the powers that be. That’s why they’ll vote one way when it comes to Washington and another way when it comes to local. They think it’s a stalemate, and they’re usually right.

There are a lot of weaklings in the cities who think Abbott killed their kids for blocking mask mandates in schools.

I’m pretty satisfied with Abbott overall. He gets hate from the usual leftists who fantasize about being oppressed, but he doesn’t seem to be as divisive to the general population—the casual voter who doesn’t follow politics daily. That’s my sense of it at least.

Never Trumper RINOs will vote for him. So you’re probably right that he’s safe against this spastic twink.
