Trump doesn't want to be any more unpopular than he is. The Dems have a media machine that will spin this as being Trumps fault. So, Trump will still get blamed and not receive any benefit for following the law and getting people their welfare food money.

It's just like the first term. He's not figured out how to actually fight outside of EOs which are toothless given the bias of the Federal judiciary.

MAGA doesn't understand how to fight a systemic progressive threat. You'd better believe they'll still be around in a year or 3 and will be set up to be even crazier than under Biden.

Probably a bit longer.

SNAP costs about $8 Billion a month. There is about $5 Billion in one contingency fund and $28 Billion in another.

The administration can reduce payouts so the first fund might last a month or so.

WTF

The court decision gives him cover to violate the law. He can provide SNAP benefits now without worrying about violating separation of powers.

Trump will sign a single line bill tonight for snap.

Schumer is holding out to fund illegals.

Wake up liberals and see it for what it really is.

Correct and the judicial decision is completely unconstitutional.

But it still provides Trump cover

Trump doesn't want SNAP cut off... he's not into arm twisting the citizenry like the democrats are.

Guess this is the mindset I need to adopt, and quickly.

I'm wishing something, ANYTHING would be done about this SNAP issue and so many people literally living their lives off of entitlements with absolutely no motivation to do better than that. But I guess even though this is a good time to do that, it's not the "best time".

So when will be a better time? Next year? Nope, midterm year. After that? Nope, because we won't want that ammo used to smear JD's imminent campaign. So, after JD is elected? Nope, because he'll need to be thinking about a second term.

Let's face it, we aren't going to fix or even seriously talk about this problem. Ever.

I think there might honestly be a chance... this round of shutdown has opened some eyes on the enormity of handouts.

They can clean up the illegal stuff fairly simply, I'd imagine. The rest will be more difficult, hopefully a little here and a little there until it's whittled down to size.

Like it or not- there's way too much dependence and comfort on the system- can't really turn it off cold.

Pushing it onto the states might be a better solution.
