@BernieSanders
Did you know that from 1911-1967, Americans could bank at their local post office?

At one point our postal banks serviced 4 million customers.

We must ensure all Americans can access basic financial services by allowing every post office to offer basic banking services again.

Pray tell Bernie, why did we end it in 1967 under a dem congress and prez? It did not work

Usps can’t get my socks from amazon to my house without fricking it up. They aren’t handling my money.

Hey, Bernie. The USPS specializes in losing billions yearly.

Dude is grasping so hard right now. No one cares about the post office or that he banked there fresh out of college.

Bernie learns this from China.

Not really. I think he is referring to rural areas lacking banks, which is actually a debunked meme.

We don't need post offices for additional banking services. The 'community' already has additional banking services:

My local post office is staffed by 1 person - a dyke that wears cargo shorts no matter the weather. She can barely keep up with her workload now.
I can’t imagine how long the line would be if she were cashing checks.

May as well sell lottery tickets at the PO too.

I want to know something.

We have a lot of woke people. Some of them are wealthy.

Nothing stops them from getting together and forming a credit union, run strictly non-profit and for the benefit of the customers to provide free checking, check cashing, micro-loans, what have you.

But they never get off their arse and do anything like that.

See a banking desert... well it's that way for a reason, but that shouldn't stop a true believer, right?

Then again I'm not really keen on modern banking. I remember a day when we had a whole slew of people working in redundant banks before interstate banking - and we got free toasters and checking.

Frick modern banking. I want my old Wachovia of South Carolina back.

Just saying why don't they ever seem to do anything to live up to their ideals? It's almost like they themselves don't believe in them.

I actually think they could set up a kind of national credit union to offer free checking accounts. I think they could make that work. So why don't they? Check cashing is a lot more dicey, but the former could work.

Lack of access to banking services for certain groups is one of the silliest things libs talk about.

There is literally no impediment to any individual setting up a basic checking/savings account.

So he's talking about people that bounce 10 checks a month and carry an average balance of $5. Just what the post office needs, another money losing waste of time. Hell, the only mail I get anymore is junk anyway.

Doesn’t the post office lose a ton of money per year?

Ideally the Post Offixe should have been in the business of Wire transfers, PayPal-type e commerce, secured emails etc. But they didn’t evolve, and must now die.

Bernie do you also remember when members of Congress had their own bank? Good times!
