On this day a few years ago was the Mansfield battle. It continued April 9 but moved to Pleasant Hill. The Confederates won.

The Civil War reenactors will be shooting it out all weekend. If you attend pack a nice picnic lunch.

You need to drive over there and tell them folks that that war is over. But we might have another one along anytime now. Conserve their energy

My buddy says they consume quite a lot of beer. I don't think that's very authentic on their part.

Wish I could attend. Great weather and a bit of history to remember.
I urge everyone of any race or creed to attend such events. They won't be around forever.
A bonus is all the cool vendors with some very neat stuff to sell and show off.

The last one I went to was the 150th battle of Olustee the largest civil war fight in Florida.

The 54th was there too!

They say that some of those battlefields are haunted.

It sure was. The 150th of Perryville as well. At Olustee they had a 1/2 scale model of the Hunley. Very neat. If no one has every gone the encampments and the vendors are worth it alone. You can learn more than 4 years of high school thats for sure.

No doubt. The reenactors who sleep on those very fields could attest I imagine.

My great grandfather lost his left arm at Pleasant Hill.

When I lived in Leesville, went to that re-enactment a couple of times.

Talked to the representatives of his 'company' = 28th LA Infantry (Gray's Company)
