He wants to combine the BRPD with the sheriff's department. Basically, he wants to do away with BRPD and transfer those funds to the sheriff's department. He knows there is too much duplication of management (and salaries) and he believes we can do better with an elected sheriff policing the entire parish while doing away with the police union that controls the BRPD.

The only way I see this scenario playing out is with a Broome re election.

Some are estimating a 10-20% resignation to seek employement with EBR and other agencies if she is re elected. At 32k a year starting salary, the agency would never be able to recover from the loss of so many during her tenure. The consolidation would be inevitable.

Watson’s inability to raise funds in order to run a decent campaign killed any chance he had.

More power to you. Being a member/former member of the LA Legislature is a disqualifier for me if there are other Republicans on the ticket.

Watson being a part of the C-P Council is a blot on his record. He has not distinguished himself as a member. Of course the crew we have now is terrible.

His voting record is solid. He often seems like Ron Paul in Congress, a lone voice of reason screaming in the wilderness. I wonder why he can’t seem to fund raise.

Can you early vote for the presidential election and the mayor race at the same time?

Yes, it’s all on the ballot at the same time as well as the senate primary, judges races, metro Council races, and constitutional amendments

I was all ready to get in the bandwagon. I kept waiting, waiting and still nothing. I really don’t think he tried.

You have to knock on doors. Talk to people who can help you. People with an interest in good govt. who will give money to a good campaigner. Go sell yourself and your ideas and plans.

Did he do anything like this?

I understand that, It would have been nice if he’d have also raised some money so he could tell the masses all about himself via tv and radio.

Reading through all these replies, it’s clear y’all are going to frick around and get stuck with SWB again. The only way BR will ever recover is for all republicans to stand firm behind 1 candidate and focus on platform issues instead of a candidates personal life.

Once again, y’all are fricking around and you’re gonna find out.

The city manager ran the city through all of Kip’s terms. Walter Monsour, Mike Walker, William Daniel. It has been turned into a very powerful position. Not sure with Broome, it mostly looks like no one is in charge most of the time.

And look, I generally like Tara, but if anything, she would have more problems with the AA MetroCouncil members than Matt Watson would.

Nonsense. He is a solid conservative. Voted pro-life in the legislature, he's against defunding the police. Where have you seen that?

Also, Carter doesn't use his campaign account to pay his restaurant and bar tabs like Watson does.
