Allow me a reply, I’ve lived in BR all my 62 years, 39 of those years as a home owner in Baton Rouge. WHEN have you seen DPW out working in Baton Rouge? You never see them. They don’t do sh@t with the department and budget they have. My wife left her DPW job after three years. She said most of the budget goes to high salaries, upper management, middle management, lower management. She always said it’s the only job she’s had where there are more managers pushing paper trying to look busy then actual workers. The equipment literally rot’s on their property for lack of use. Don’t believe me? Drive by their equipment yard and have a look.
Sickens me to my core.

You silly frick, what is that money going to do to stop flooding?

I don’t necessarily have a problem with the tax as a concept. I have a problem with this tax not getting put to a vote of the people in a fall election. I have an issue with a lack of transparency over where the money would go, and I take issue with a lack of a plan for how the money would be spent. This looks like a serious money grab where the funds will get stolen and never go where they’re meant to.
If this tax was proposed for a public vote with a serious and pre-engineered plan to build some actual flood mitigation and drainage infrastructure, I would probably support it. But we all know that is NOT what is happening here.

Because the EPA is trying to frick everyone. SOP.
They pay activist groups to sue them so that they can sign consent decrees to enforce policies they can’t get approved otherwise.

We are being told we have to have this new tax or else.
Now there’s a NDA????? Why?
The new tax doesn’t even come with a plan as to how the funds are to be spent. They don’t say why the plan is so high and the plan so large.
This stinks

There will no exemptions, no business, no school, no government building, no shopping center.

Hysterical whining won't stop flooding.
We've had this tax in Gwinnett County, GA for over a decade. Your first problem is assuming that the additional revenue will be used to cover flood control. Kinda like to Social Security "lockbox" myth.

This practIce of using consent decrees to circumvent legislatures and executive agencies should be challenged at SCOTUS and ruled unconstitutional.

Who are the ignorant jackasses that elected this ignorant jackass to office?

Why aren’t our council people coming clean on all this?

I reached out to my council person. Hopefully, I’ll get some answers for the board soon.

If you saw the candidate that ran against her the first time, you’d get it. Bodi White was a terrible candidate.

I don't agree with the tax, but suggesting that there are people who live in a dwelling but have no property tax liability is inaccurate. I own rental property. The property tax bill gets passed on to my tenant through his rent; therefore, he is paying property taxes even though he doesn't own the property.
What about section 8 tenets?

I wrote mine. but did not know about the RDA. I got a canned response. They are definitely holding back.

Mine just messaged me. They said it’s too much to discuss over text, but not all of the council people signed nda’s. My council person seemed very concerned about what’s going on. I should get to talk with them at length about it this evening.

Huh, and here I thought water ran off of most roofs and was absorbed into the ground, unless the house/facility had some sort of rainwater collection system...

To programs that never get audited, to everyone north of Florida Blvd, to high salaries, to welfare recipients that don’t work, to the EBT/SNAP programs and all the other shite hole programs.

So, all of the negotiations between the EPA and the city are being handled exclusively by the mayors office. The council is being completely kept in the dark, and pressured to sign NDA’s. The suit stems from fecal matter runoff from the stormwater system making it into rivers and streams. The council is being told to vote for the fee “or else” the consent decree will be handed down. Council members have been given no details on who collects the money, how it will be spent, or what it will be spent on. This is some super shady shite, guys. All hands on deck Thursday at 6 at Goodwood Library.
