None of this is accurate at all, get your facts correct for one, Trump cut programs that were and are fraudulent of which many democrats voted with Trump on that including Fetterman. The issue is the 800 Billion subsidy that Obamacare needs to stay afloat. It’s making the insurance companies very wealthy but Trump cut it and said that it should be on its own like Obama promised and the democrats said it would generate its own funds of which it has not and premiums are going up like crazy. So you see almost 1 Trillion for a program that was BS from the start. I work and pay for my health insurance and it is not a right as democrats say. Democrats are the problem.
Just curious about donating, age limit? Drug test? Anyone made any good money?
Thanks for any info

re: Ruud vs Carrier AC units

Just so you know, 32 years working in this field, some units have their differences but to be honest as long as you do correct preventative maintenance from a reliable contractor or a senior level technician who does his due diligence and you change the filters once a month you’re good. Brands that will go the distance are Goodman, Trane, Carrier, Lennox, American Standard. A Goodman unit is like a good old workhorse it will keep working as long as you keep your condenser clean, filter change and periodically have it checked it will last years upon years. Good Luck,
Get a Goodman and save your money

That’s crazy, I also knew Dawson, I remember several times we had to lock the gate, last to leave. My dad was a founding member when they built it.
I remember many big get togethers with other “Gulf Staters” as my dad would say. Eating under the big pavilion, going down the slide, getting a Pepsi out of the pull bottle machine, ahhh the good old days…………

The Good Old Days in Baton Rouge

Posted by Oneulus on 4/27/24 at 4:19 pm
My first grand baby is a boy and is now 8 and asked me what it was like when I was 12 or so, his words not mine.
My answer to him in bullet point lists sort of,
We rode our bikes anywhere we wanted
Stayed outside till mom called us in for supper
Went to something we called Fun Fair Park
Roller skating at Leo’s roller rink
Ate big hamburgers and drank thick shakes at Hoppers
Played Putt Putt Golf
Bon Marche Western Auto
Montgomery Wards
New Schwinn StingRay Bike
Real Great Smelling Christmas Trees
GI Joe and all his accessories
Wall mounted phone with a very long coiled up cord
Muffuletta’s Tamales
Kick the Can at night
Cards with clothes pins in spokes of our bikes
Playing in wards creek canal with my friends
Hot outside mom says play outside with the sprinkler or water wiggle
on and on and,
Ahhhh, the good old days…..
What say you?

We went to the ZZ Top, Lynard Skynard, Black Stone Cherry concert last night at the Cajun Dome in Lafayette.
Everyone in our group and others around us thought Lynard Skynard played a very short set as compared to the other two bands. Johnny Van Zant kept trying to get more screaming out of the crowd and create more enthusiasm but remember folks, most people including our group is that everyone was at least in their sixties and many much older. Many slow walking, using canes, walkers etc.. it seems they cut the playlist real short since they didn’t get the results when he would yell “Come on Lafayette let me hear you!” It was fun but really weird. ZZ Top was awesome and Black Stone Cherry blew the place out the water, amazing band. Glad we went still. God bless Billy Gibbons, he was amazing at 74 years old! ROCK ON.
I would NEVER underestimate Tyson, I watched him not long ago reviewing different televised footage of different types of fighting matches, UFC, MMA etc… He definitely had excellent commentary and technique explanations for each fight. He knows boxing in and out and he’s in tip top shape. His workout routine they showed was absolutely brutal for someone his age.
He is still Bad arse AF.
My 2 cents

Help With Home Owners Insurance

Posted by Oneulus on 1/17/24 at 1:07 pm
Hi Fam,
We live in Tara and have Farm Bureau for our home insurance, Farm Bureau got approved for two rate hikes this year, a 15% in March 2023, and a 37% increase in September 2023 for a combined increase of 52%! I’m going with All State since their increase is very nominal in comparison. Anyone else have this issue with their insurance company? Farm Bureau has done this in the last four years every year. It quadrupled my insurance. Anyone can suggest a company that doesn’t rape the wallets of the home owner? Farm Bureau is telling me it’s cost of rebuilding my house even though that figure has not changed in three years, shows that figure on their own paperwork.
Thanks all for any help
Jesus himself said “Go and sin no more” to the prostitute, he did not bless her sinful behavior
I would dispute that claim, do business on contract with the federal government and you will quickly learn your company must be “balanced” as they told me when bidding on jobs here in Louisiana and I F-ing live here!
I had to have a certain percentage of whites, blacks, Latinos and veterans.
This was for installing RTU’s, roof top units for my air conditioning business on federal buildings in New Orleans.
I turned down the job and removed my bid.
Don’t you find it ridiculous that the Federal Law of EEOC requires companies NOT to hire based on sex, race, etc… but yet I have to hire people to fill a federal requirement in order for my company that I own to be “balanced” so I DON’T get charged federally for breaking the EEOC law? Balanced was the term used by the EEOC lawyer in my deposition, and yes I proved my point with the above statement to the Federal Government lawyer hack citing their own BS law. I won my case.
DEI hires including the ones done at LSU, BR DPW ETC…. are a joke. None qualified individuals getting hired so your company looks racially diverse according to your government. So we are back to hiring based on race and sex.
How about letting me hire the most qualified person that I interviewed to help my company make more money so I can hire even more people that need a job.
Wife and I ate there Friday. I ordered the so called seafood platter, wife had barbecued shrimp and mashed potatoes. She had so much oil and grease in her bowl it was absolutely disgusting. I had two tiny pieces of very undercooked fish. The TWO hush puppies were so hard and small like a marble you couldn’t eat them without breaking a tooth. Fries were cold and hard. Both orders were 23 dollars!
We sent the food back and left, all the while they kept trying to get us to stay and try other food. This place will not last.
Anyone know why a top wing twin engine plane is flying treetop level over Baton Rouge tonight?
It’s flying east to west in a straight line then back west to east right over us.
On Tara Blvd.
Anyone else seen this? It’s not mosquito abatement don’t seen any type of spray just crazy low flying.
Hey sorry wife asking me to ask again
3.25%, remaining mortgage is 110k, house estimate 325k.
Thanks
Just thinking of trying to generate an extra 1k a month for enjoying our retirement a little more.
Reverse mortgages have many reviews but still seems mixed opinions.

Thinking of a Reverse Mortgage

Posted by Oneulus on 10/10/23 at 3:17 pm
Does anyone here have any experience with a reverse mortgage?
Thinking of getting one to use the money we are putting out on our mortgage,
$1035.00 into our monthly budget going forward with our retirement.
I’m 63, wife is 66, she’s retired from LSU.
Just wondering if anyone has better knowledge than searching around on the internet for information.
Thanks in advance

Hi
I worked on many JD tractors big and small over the years.
One of the biggest issues is what’s called a “floating ground”
Somewhere on your equipment it’s making an intermittent contact to the frame where you should have a good negative ground from the battery negative terminal.
Many times paint from the factory that is sprayed on he frame first will cause this problem.
I would trace the negative terminal from the battery and where it connects to the frame or metal, remove it, sand down to bare metal, reconnect the negative cable coming from the battery, should be good to go.
