we can agree on the rest...but wtf does barry have to do with it? because he was killed here? wasnt like he was bringing product into BR
certainly the city has gotten worse since katrina...that is not deniable.
but it certainly wasnt a paradise before
But there was an increase and general upward trend in the years after katrina really starting an increase in 2006 to 74 all the way to 96 in 2007. that trend continued through 2012 where there was a decrease big time, when it jumped back into the upper 80s when they had got it down below 50 in 2016 for the first time since katrina. it reversed the downward trend. at least city proper.
now....covid reset everything again now its back up over 100 in the parish
again though...the number of total murders in the parish was 60 total in 2004, its over 100 now...
even if you want to take a closer view...pre katrina it was 60, by 2006 after, it was 74, 96 in 2007.
there is was a clear trend and all violent crime rate was up like that.

Broome at first thought she could litigate St George out of existence. She knew what it meant to lose that revenue so she did the only thing she could do at the time. But kicking the can down the road was always going to have consequences because the precedent was there for her to lose, but she also knew she wasn't going to have to face those consequences. Bottomline is that the mayor-president model has to go. The City of BR does not need to be and should not be joined at the hip in governing EBR anymore. This has to be separated for things to work. Now that will also frick BR proper because of NBR and places that do not have the revenue to float the city but years and years of not wanting to incorporate whitey but instead take whitey's money has now come to a head and the jig is up. Sid has to deal with it and Broome can say Sid is the problem. And the dumbass liberals will eat this up with a spoon and call St George racist and continue to spread lies to cover for the corruption that has been in BR forever.

The bad thing is, as Baton Rouge becomes worse, it will drag St. George down with it.
I could not disagree more. The more BR becomes worse, the louder the cry to deconsolidate the City-Parish form of government will become. Once that happens, SG will improve at an even faster rate.

This has been the case since before there was an effort to incorporate the City of St. George. We consider the sources and keep on chugging along collecting our wins along the way.

This is the most naive statement I've seen in quite a while.
The payout to Alton Sterling's family says otherwise

That’s even more naïve. You really think these people are doing what they do because they’re soft hearted and have more empathy?
I’m being nice calling you naïve.

Broome came in and strangled Baton Rouge. Voting matters.

If I had any retirement money with the City of Baton Rouge, I would move it immediately. Stockton, California in a similar financial situation went bankrupt.
