Could we have fought our way out of the shits of the depression that fast without TVA and other government programs though? Remember there was a horrible flood in our area Louisiana in 1928 around the same time that shut down a lot of agriculture

WW2 got us out of the depression.
All those make work programs FDR enacted didn't do much other than spend a shite ton of money. (We got some nice dams out of it. Didn't fix the economy.)
Plenty of economists say FDR's policies extended the depression.
