OP, can you post the link to all that? Fwiw, I retired at 30.5 years and my pension is right at $100k.

It's just Google AI.

Real America's Voice was running that news blurb on their crawl so I Googled it to see what I could find and Google AI spit out the same thing.

Here's a link..

NYC Fireman $171k/year pension.

Im not sure we are reflecting on NYC variables in part.

1.) Super high rise fires and risk.

2.) underground deep underground fire risks.

3.) The amount of the world works because NYC is safe.

**** mayor dont frick with FD just the police.

That amount is right and earned.

Thats for guys with 20+ years service, the average fire fighter in NYC gets a $98k pension

20 years is about half a person's working years.

Anyone collecting the 170k pay check right now has more than earned it

Firefighting doesn't rank in the top 25 most dangerous jobs.

And I don't think OP's point was firefighters should feel bad about getting a great deal. I think he was pointing out that it's Joe Taxpayer that, in the end, will be bailing out these overly generous and overly short-funded public pensions.

There’s no way pensions like that are sustainable. For ANY municipality.

Former Los Angeles Police officer that lives next door to my dad has a $200k a year pension. They take these pensions and move to places like Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Georgia, etc.

If we're going to use this ^^^^^ standard then every person in the military should be making $100k salary and a decent retirement pension of $100k for an enlisted soldier with 20 years service,

As usual, you're missing the point, NYC is fricking nearly insolvent and they're paying out pensions to firefighters from $100k-$300k annually.

The point is you're blaming firefighter pensions for NYC's financial situation.

I did? I just gave you data/information.

If I worked for Chicago, I would be concerned the city would file bankruptcy before I was paid out!

11 years and 150 posts?

That's surprising. Most Narcissists like to be heard more.

"The figures include benefits from an optional program that allows members to make extra contributions to the pension plan, and the pension fund’s “Variable Supplement Fund” and “Christmas bonus” programs."

Was in the link. The Variable Supplemental Fund is an extra $12k a year. I imagine, like police, overtime makes a huge factor in that kind of retirement. With the amount of shortages they have, not surprising if there is a ton of OT available. They've had some good pay raises over the last decade and still have trouble hiring people. They struggle to hire enough to keep up with retirements, especially on the EMS side.

nstead of advocating for them to lose their good benefits, why not be pissed that you don't get the same benefits?

you are so fricking stupid it is unbelievable. You are one of these idiots that thinks everyone should be getting minimum $25 an hour, and by your comments, everyone should get a pension of $175K. How the hell do you think either of these will be funded? For the $25 an hour to flip burgers, that means your Wendy's value meal would go to $20. Do you not get that? For the high pension, it means everyone's taxes would go up substantially.

Please tell me how we fund these things that you stupid liberals think we should all have. What's the fkn point of increasing minimum wage when everything goes up cost wise to fund the increases....you are still in the same boat. But, I know, you have all the answers. You have no clue about economics, just a dumb bitch.

I will guarantee Cubbie has no issue with the fact Jotato gave the nearly bankrupt Midwest Teamsters Pension fund nearly $40 billion of US taxpayer money during the Covid-19 Hysteria helicopter money giveaway extravaganza. Buying them union votes with US taxpayer dollars.

Didn't Covid relief include about $100B to shore up pensions? That's how it's sustainable. You and I will keep it that way.

You really think a few weeks working the WTC site is going to cause some mass cancer outbreak?

Even if true, how many firefighters were there total amd for how long?

In total the Teamsters pension bailouts have been well over $50 billion over the past 10-15 years. It's crazy to think millions of US taxpayers without pensions are bailing out other people's mismanaged pension funds.
