They should ping any vehicle that went out to desert within 24 hours of event and came back to city. If a vehicle was out for a few hours and came back and has no family in desert that would show a likely body being buried

Depends on memory of the system. I upgraded my security camera memory, so they don't start recording over old video footage until around the 36 day mark @ 1080 resolution.
But I know every system is different. I'd suspect at very least you'd get a week or two out of gas station systems.
