They have dropped the baseline ASVAB score for 35 series MOS jobs by 10 points since I was in. MI is a bunch of dummies.
It's not just that.
I'm 5'8 without shoes. These were the height and weight standards when I joined in 2000:
17-20 - 170 lbs max (tape test if above)
21-27 - 174 lbs max
28-39 - 179 lbs max
40+ - 181 lbs max
Body fat standards - 20% (17-20), 22% (21-27), 24% (28-39), 26% (40+)
These are the standards in 2022
17-20 - 179
21-27 - 181
28-39 - 184
40+ - 187
To my knowledge body fat percentages are unchanged.
PT Test standards have drastically changed for the worse.
When I was a cadet, you had to do 42 pushups in 2 minutes, 52 situps in 2 minutes and 2 miles in 15:54 to PASS. The minimums were basically unchanged when I commissioned but the maxes were lowered.
Needless to say the fact that you can pass the 2-mile run with 22 minutes now is a fricking joke.

Most of the MI people I was around were sharp as tacts. Except for maybe IMINT but idk if they’re even 35series. I was 35M HUMINT gang for life. AIT near the Mexican border was the best time of my life. Drink and frick till 2 am PT at 5 am.

What, more of McNamara's retards? Draft? Turning it in to a foreign legion?
An insult to me and pissing on the graves of those that died.
Do you have any info on foreign legion? Any experience?
Second hand experience says they were a bad bunch of well trained fighters that could kick arse.

My concern with draftees or "foreign legion" is that it would create a system of "haves" and "have nots" that's even worse than it already might be.

An 11 minute mile is an absolute joke
I almost got a 300 pt score once as specialist couldn’t quite get the push-ups. I’m a lean fellow.

My best ever APFT was after my first Iraq deployment, where my commo chief made the mistake of telling the entire shop that, "whoever can beat me on the APFT, I'll buy them lunch, and that includes you, sir"
I had him grade me. I maxed out pushups in the first minute, then stopped. I maxed out situps in the first minute, then stopped. On the 2-mile run, I ran the first mile in 5:50 and SLOWED DOWN to try to come in exactly at 13 minutes (max). I ended up at 12:52.
When it came time for lunch, I insisted on buying his lunch instead. I failed to meet my intent, which was to try to get the rest of the shop to follow my lead.
As I posted in another thread, my final PT test score (diagnostic ACFT) was a 453/600 back when it was gender and age neutral.
Grading it on the 42-46 year old standard raises my score 90 points.

Try making bad comparisons to Nat'l Guard and Reserves for a real insult.
French Foreign Legion had few or no French in there.

No and neither does anyone currently in. That's my point.

No and neither does anyone currently in.
Current situation may have those good old boys not staying around very long due to the vax and queer issues alone. I can see that materializing.

It is really hard to get me riled. Insulting my military guys is one way.

Got into this discussion with my boy a few nights ago. Told me the 2 mile max was now 13:30. When I was at A&M, a fitness and conditioning class I took required a 9:00 mile and a half to max. So, a civilian PE class required a faster pace than today’s military academy.
We got started on this because he had just run the IOCT. Fell off the balance beam and had to backtrack at least twice. Missed the time he needed to place out for the rest of his time there by 1 second. He laughed it off.

Back then the max for 2 miles was 11:54. That comes out to 8:55 for a mile and a half.
It was MUCH simpler then (before 1999). The passing score was 60 and then every additional pushup, additional situp and every 6 seconds you cut from your run time added a point.

Wow.
I’ll make sure I heard him right, and I’m not sure if his number is just for West Point (which would seem odd), or the Army in general.
If so, that means more than a minute and a half longer (11.3%).

No, you're correct. In 1999, the max for the 2-mile run didn't exceed 13:00 for any year group.
The max for the 2-mile run, as of tomorrow, is:
17-21 - 13:22
22-26 - 13:27
27-31 - 13:31
32-36 - 13:42
37-41 - 13:58
42-46 - 14:05
47-51 - 14:30
52-56 - 15:09
57-61 - 15:28
61+ - 15:28 (note that max for 17-21 female is 15:29)

But this is so inspiring for warriors! SJWs that is.

I remember when that bullshite happened...in 2010. The Professor of Military Science was given a GO memo of reprimand and basically pushed out of the service.

5 generations in my family served including myself and a grandson that is currently a Navy pilot. My 19 year old grandson in college was approached by Air Force recruiter for ROTC.I told him to tell the recruiter he was male and wants to stay that way and that he is not going to apologize for his whiteness.ROTC would be great except he has an academic scholarship now.
My major concern is that heterosexual white males will be discriminated against for duty assignments and promotions. Also he is not going to take the Covid vax so that would probably eliminate him anyway.

The US Army will get its arse kicked in the next war. Woke military is more interested in purple haired people and not in winning.
