In the 2021 elections, his group became the third strongest in the country and obtained four of the 257 seats in the Chamber of Deputies in its first showing. Milei is now a member of the Congress of Argentina and is openly campaigning for the presidential election that will take place in 2023. His exponential rise in popularity has prompted Milei and his opponents to take the possibility of his victory very seriously. He wants to cut down the number of ministries from twenty to eight, of which he already has four working as shadow ministries: economy, foreign relations, welfare, and infrastructure.

South America may very well end up being the saving grace of Western Civilization.

Very few people migrate from Argentina to the US, compared to the Central and North American countries to the south of the US.

Columbia just elected a former narco-terrorist Marxist maniac....their first left wing president in recent history.

Chile just a couple year ago overthrew their ultra free market leadership that made the country into the best economy in South America and re-wrote their country's constitution into socialism all basically because the conservative) libertarian govm't cut back on bloat and entitlements and promoted purist type Capitalism that brought the nation into strong first world standing.

I wouldn't say South America is saving anything. That continent has a long history of insane left wing/ dictatorial type leaders, and massive shifts in political ideology on a whim.

Hell, look at Brazil right now. They have one of the most Trump-like presidents currently in office and they just struck a deal with China and Russia and India to essentially de-throne the dollar as the world's rwsrve currency. Bolsenaro (sp?) is very conservative, but he has also now aligned himself with the biggest Communist nation in Earth, so he's not exactly an old time Reagan Republican type, either.

My point is, South America is just simply insanely volatile and unpredictable when it comes to politics. Hell, only a few decades ago, you literally had a single drug dealer terrosist outright running Columbia and blowing up government institutions. South America is like a mix of Baghdad, Miami, Mississippi, and the Soviet Union

This is what happens when you completely leave out the lazy people and let the starve. They revolt with the youth.

Don't count on it. I love Argentina but they will have a very hard time keeping it on the rails.

About 30 years ago Presidente Menem tried to skinny down government and privatise a lot. It was a disaster. It turned into crony capitalism and went too far in the other direction. Which is what got us the Kirchners and their big government BS for the last 20 years.

Plus the Argentine election is about a year off. The current President, Fernandez is pretty corrupt . He basically is part of the Kirchner bunch , Nestor and Cristina, who are the ideological heirs to the Peronists. They really don't know what they are doing, but they went to school for it.

Yep, it is pretty rare to see many Argentines, Uruguayans and Chileans emigrate. Argentina is a fantastic country rich in just about all resources. It can pretty much feed itself and it has a wealth of raw materials in the Andes and in the North. It should be an economic powerhouse. It has an almost entire European ethnic population....there are very few indigenous populations and really they are concentrated in the North near the border with Paraguay and Brazil.

Uruguay, across the river is so much better run, and overall has the highest standard of living per capita of any South American country.

Isn't Uruguay basically a full blown socialistic government now, basically in the level of Norway, Denmark etc?

I know they also have similar population, size, Areas and demographics.

Colombia just elected a Marxist, and Venezuela is a socialist basket case. No, don’t count on South America. The anglosphere will sink or swim on its own.

He is Brazil first as we are America first. What do we have in DC now? It's no wonder he is making deals for his country.

At least with those countries he knows what to expect. With *Biden, our alphabet agencies and those corrupt clowns in DC, who knows?

While not an expert on Uruguay, I think they are like 94% or close of European decent, whether white, tan or brown. Probably the only country in SA or Central America that can be compared to Danish countries for semi-functioning Socialism.

Still not the freedoms we still have..... for now.

Bolsanaro and his cronies did exactly what you clowns imagine the dems are doing…they used corrupt judges to jail the opposition! Glen greenwald reported extensively on this scumbag.

Tell me you don’t know anything about Argentina without telling me you know nothing about Argentina.
