It's essentially a lighter version of McCain's speech the other day and pretty veiled but it's still neocon and he's made plenty of digs at nationalism already. Let's not pretend it isn't a subtle dig at Trump.

I still respect the guy personally and would gladly have a beer with him, He's a great man but damn his Presidency was a goddamn disaster and what made me run the frick away from the GOP in the first place.

There were some parts that seemed to contradict Trump but on the whole it was a great speech and much more likely to have been given by Trump than by Obama.

Right, he said nationalism has devolved into nativism or something like that. So he wasn't taking shots at nationalism, per say.

GW Bush just claimed Russia was trying to turn Americans against each other using Social Media. He must be part of the establishment that is in deep shite.

I agreed with some of the speech especially about how america can be a moral leader but I say that that moral leadership has to be restrained to the point where we are not forcing values on countries that don't want it.

But the fact remains that his Presidency was so terrible it tore open new divides inside the GOP and their answer to that was to run McCain who would've been a third term of Bush. No wonder Obama beat them like a drum.

Umm no. You Trumpkins might want him but "the people" definitely don't want him. He lost "the people" by over 3,000,000 votes but he won the Electoral college. Civics 101

Russia may be doing that. What he didn't say was that they influenced the election and gave it to Trump or that Trump colluded with the Russians.

Let's not be too critical here. It was a speech consistent with much of Trump's American exceptionalism message.

Absolute nothing wrong with a healthy dose of national pride, what Trump is doing under the guise of nationalism is by definition spurious.

Oooo so he lost the popular vote. Too bad that's not the way elections here are decided for President. Guess who we elected? Trump.

Please seek help. It's been 11 months and you still don't know "What Happened."

What are you referring to? His foreign policy is still very much foreign and he's got no opposition to trade deals that make sense for America. Restoring national pride is something that's been sorely needed and actually something that could bring our country together if the left would get on board.

I don't see any spurious nationalism at all, but am curious as to your thoughts. You're not referring to the Paris accord, are you?
