Family of 4, make too much money for any subsidy help (F me, right?), and the cheapest bronze plan is $965/m and doesn't pay anything until you meet a $15,500 deductible. So basically we'd be out $15,500 + (12 x $965) = $27,080 before this piece of shite would pay ANYTHING.

Pretty much have no choice but to get a plan that is over $1,500 per month because the deductibles are so high. Absolute insanity. Wife and I are in our early 30s and have two kids, 5 & 2. We're all healthy and there's not a single regular prescription between the 4 of us.

Yes, this summer.

I wonder what it was like trying to get insurance outside the workplace before the exchange?

Just don't buy insurance.

Pay out of pocket for wellness visits, vaccinations, etc. and get yourself a plan if someone is diagnosed with something catastrophic.

oh...and...stay out of the emergency room.

Drive carefully.

It's difficult to do that, and feel good about it, with young kids. They don't have the same sense of self preservation as we do.

As someone who pays a shitload of taxes so that others can have affordable healthcare, this is not an acceptable option for me.

***Edited to add, that this is even a conceivable option for a family that pays in as much as I do to support our government is outrageous.

Here's what a lot of my students' parents do.

Divorce her, she becomes a single mom of 2, Medicaid covers her and the kids. Rent her your house, you "live at you parents". Now, the gov't will cover her rent in her well fair and food stamps. Y'all will be good rich quick.

I'm just waiting for the wife to hit 65 so her premiums will go down at least 40-50% of what we're paying for now, which is less coverage and higher deducts than what she had on my company's plan.

Are you a church goer? There are some insurance risk groups set up by religious orgs you can seek out.

you won't be subjected to people like the dependent duncan idaho in those plans which is a bonus.

What was the household income you had put down to get these estimates?

This seems plausible. No sarcasm.

My family situation is exactly the same, only my kids are about 5 years older than both of yours. Number 3 is due during the holidays.

I think I'm at like 1200/month or so. I understand your frustration, it is mine at times as well, but I like the ACA. Hopefully, they can tweak it and get it corrected.

It just asked if household income was over $96k to rule out qualifying for some of the subsidy. Anything over that, these are the options.

Why don't you just pay your fair share and quit your bitching? Millions of American degenerates depend on you overpaying. Thank you.

Good luck with that. Most doctors offices wont even accept you as a patient without some form of insurance. It doesn't matter if you have a briefcase full of cash in hand.
