Anyone else think our democracy has gotten so much freedom that it’s out of control?

Straight out of Plato’s republic. In a democracy, people ask for more and more freedom, to the point where there’s chaos (see Seattle, and the fact that kids are free to cut their dicks off), then devolves into tyranny.
I think we’re heading there, in a lot of ways the left is tyrannical, cancelling everyone, saying stuff like “you don’t get to choose when you resign” to public figures.
Thoughts? How do we control this? Is it done?

We're not a democracy, so the question is irrelevant.

They’ll calm down a good bit once Trump isn’t looming large over them. When you peel all the layers back, it all goes back to that one person. Poor immune system and poor hygiene gottem, they caught the deadly TDS

America is NOT a democracy

So censoringng social media, a lying media, mandating a useless vaccine, holding protesters without trial, arresting pro-life protestors, and stealing an election is considered freedom?

I suppose you can have too much of anything.
Except looks, health, and money.

Our democracy and Pelosi republic. Does not compute

Left out refusing to send donations to protestors ( truck protest) and potentially fining account holders for misinfo without trial. Also holding a presidential address to call half the country terrorists for voting wrong.

Maybe I wasn’t 100% clear, I meant that too much freedom resulted in what you meant. Tyranny.

I was wondering this myself. China came at it from a totally different angle: they kept the strong arm against their people and have used that to restrict their capitalism and not allow run away cronyism and crazy ideologies like our left/tech/msm has done. They only became a true world power when they allowed their economy to embrace aspects of freedom and capitalism.
Unfortunately our angle of attack hasn’t restricted the social nutjobs and power hungry elites in government from railroading our way of life.

quote:freedom like being required by the fed gov to take an untested, experimental drug in order to keep your job? Or mandated to wear a piece of cloth on your face to “protect” yourself and others without any evidence it works?? That kind of freedom????
has gotten so much freedom
There’s a lot of problems causing the decay of society, and freedom isn’t one of them

Honestly, I’d rather the American setup over the Chinese setup. It’s not super close either.

May have misunderstood your post. But the free world is a complete fraud.

Absolutely, but we should see them as a datapoint and understand that extreme concentrations of power - either way - cause problems.

For sure. I would have to say though that Red China goes harder at their extreme end than we do.

They know how to keep their people in order also. I think they do this by spreading American propaganda as if to say, “see? This is what happens when you have “total freedom”
Not that we do. I hate China and hope the people rebel at some point. I read somewhere that they’re having issues over there, though.

Our constitution allows for us to turn to communism with enough idiots voting for it.
It will lead to authoritarianism either way eventually.

That, and probably the ever-present threat of either yourself and/or your family being disappeared if you give them a little too much sass or the wrong kind of sass.

Which is exactly why we don't have a democracy in the United States.
