.....and even worse, Mamdani and these DSA hooligans are largely getting away with it.

Let's be honest. We've had elements of Socialism in our American government for decades. But these extremists have passed up Socialism going 120 MPH. They are straight-up Marxist/Communists

But between conservative media and even the Trump White House, I seldom here them say this. Just because "DSA" contains the name "Socialist" doesn't mean that's who they are. One of the few things Dems are good at is branding themselves with words which don't accurately describe who they are. When even a yahoo like James Carville is worried about these radicals, we should all know that they aren't your typical Socialist Democrats.

Some might think this false branding is a trivial issue. It isn't.

It’s clever on their part, though it is somewhat misleading. I’m about at the point where I am open to socialist ideas. Let’s be honest with ourselves, this system ain’t exactly free-market capitalism.

Easy to do when virtually every institution carries their water.

It turns out the standard GOP practice of the last 30 years of shrugging shoulders and saying but look at the GDP has consequences.

I've been trying to explain this point to people. People like Obama are the socialist and this new group of DSA are the actual communist. They know they can't call themselves communist but they also know the public is so ignorant of what communism is that they can say all the communist things they want to do and people will think it's just Democratic Socialism.

Another thing that bothers me is they try to sell this socialism as different because they point out they are "Democratic" Socialist. The Soviet Union and other socialist/communist countries had elections, but it was for candidates from one party, chosen by the party. What's scary is you can see the Democratic party leaning more and more to making a villain out of any Republican or someone from a different party. Their goal is one party rule.

Excellent post, donut. I wish more people were pointing this out, especially less than 2 months away from voting in the midterm elections.

It does, but that's par for the course for Democrats. They've been missing me off since "we have to pass the bill to see what's in it." That was in 2010.

Not really. I'm worried that people are willing to accept them no matter what they are called.

I don’t care if people have these views… but when they actively use revolutionary tactics to destroy the most free society ever conceived…

This is when it becomes treacherous. These revolutionaries should be expelled from this country.

I would even let them choose a communist shithole of their choosing

I agree. They can have their crazy views. The problem is, we're talking about extremists who are either 1) running for office, or 2) already holding power, like Mamdani.

That's why we shouldn't allow them to get away with misbranding themselves. There are too many gullible, under-informed voters who could be fooled.

Socialism and communism are interchangeable terms.

I know technically the definition is different, but the end result is always the same

Socialists are communists without power. I’m serious just think about it, how do you get everyone to go along with your utopia (fever dream) without the business end of a gun? Luckily “guns scary” to the American leftist and the only people who know how to use them would rather shoot
The leftists in the face.

Not really. This is what they've always done. I have always stated that socialists and communists are the same. I'm glad they're now making that more obvious.

Yes. They're fricking communists. They know it, we know it. Just like Bernie, Massie and Rand, they're just latching on to one of the major political parties so they have a shot at winning their elections. They would stand no chance in hell of winning otherwise.

No. Marxism is just a more specific node within the broader scope of Socialism. As such, all Marxists are socialists while not all socialists are Marxists. Along with that, for the Marxist, socialism is merely a step toward their reality-denying dream of a global stateless, classless, communist society.

Anyone paying attention knows that when socialism fails, the socialist seeks to just push more government control in order to force socialism to work. For the Marxist, this plays in their dream because it requires an eventual revolution and nothing sparks revolution quite like an increasingly authoritative government causing the citizenry to go from wealth to starvation.

This means that for the wise, "socialist", "communist" and "Marxist" are just increasingly potent versions of the same drink with the only real option being to not belly-up to the bar in the first place.

No we haven’t. What we have had is slipshod use of the word “socialism”. It doesn't mean a robust social safety net. It means state management of the economy.

Sweden is not socialist (though they call themselves that); they are capitalist. They used to be socialist, but that failed, so in the 1990s they privatized the companies and industries that they had socialized earlier.

America briefly partially installed socialism under Woodrow Wilson. It failed badly (who could have forseen that?)

Britain had socialism - radically in the late 1940s and less so in the next few decades. Thatcher unwound that failure in 1979.

I’ve had multiple leftist white women tell me that “socialism is NOT communism” over the past several weeks. I just ask whether they personally are willing to pay 50+% of their own income in taxes and then the argument loses steam.

Question implies that socialism is a good thing. No, I’m not bothered, because both groups are pieces of shite.

I can blame the DSAs. I can blame the msm as willing accomplices and supporters of all things anti-American.
But to me, the blame falls to a particular unnamed, unfinished 'gene' within the leftist voters' minds that can't seem to distinguish between political reality and political fantasy - that can't seem to engage a critical gear that would even question what is presented to them by their demigods. I wonder too whether their political instincts exist or have they chosen to ignore them. The corruption within the D party is now an open book. That socialism and its poisonous cousins have historically ruined nations is beyond dispute. That leftists continue to embrace it is nothing less than an indication of weak or fractured minds.
Hollering at the DSAs wont fix it.
