And was your D-dimer elevated?
Just curious.
Just curious.

I wasn’t tested for anything. There was no indication.

Why would you do a d-dinner when the risk is so low?
Posted on 8/13/21 at 9:42 am to GumboPot
Why would you get tested for fun?
And d dimer is a god awful nonspecific test

I can tell you that when our residents tested positive, blood work including d-dimers were done and treated accordingly.

Right.
It's just an indicator for clotting. Especially for capillary clotting that cannot be seen on any kind of radiographic scan.

So they were put on blood thinners?

Tested +…more risk with covid and clotting than with the vax.

D-dimer is one of the most worthless lab tests

Then why have it? At least it's an indicator for clotting.

And worthless in people over 50 who are prone to random spikes.

I understand the theory behind spiked protein capilitory clotting that is causing various organ inflammation (like myocarditis, pericarditis, etc.).
What is the theory behind covid clotting especially on asymptomatic people?

D-dimer is a very nonspecific test. It is sensitive but not specific. It is helpful when negative because that pretty much excludes significant dvt or pe. So it can be a helpful rule out test.
But it is often falsely positive so a positive d dimer often doesn’t mean anything.

If you test random hospitalized patients for anything (not covid related) it’s elevated in a majority of patients

Are they doing D-dimer levels on the healthy general public?
D-dimers are usually done with full blown sick covid pt's...

I just did it 2weeks after first vaccine with pfizer. I also did it before. I am very shocked as it is positive and 6 time or more the threshold. I al very very concerned since i didn’t feel any side effects from the vaccine. I wonder how many people have this and live undetected until one day they die with a stroke out of nowhere without knowing what caused it…

Because even a lack of physical activity can cause endothelial injury. And ACE2 receptors are also on endothelial cells. The pathophysiology is so straight forward it beggars belief you can’t get it.

Better questions would be how many COVID-19 patients that were intubated suffered a pneumothorax?
How many were extubated?
How many were extubated?
