It's us exchanges leading the way up instead of okcoin or huobi like normal. Weird trend last couple weeks... bitfinex is killing the volume, but after their incident several months back i avoid like the plague.
I remember going to CVS to call my first Bitcoin order in

Back in the day that was the quickest way to get bitcoin if you couldn't find anyone on localbitcoins.

Not a single supporter of bitcoin has ever given me any valid reasons for the sharpe rises and falls.

Bitcoin is mostly Chinese now. Everyone else is just along for the ride.

The Fall and Rise of the Silk Road bubble was caused by Chinese influx.

Funny you say that. I have been reading economic doomer porn for probably 10-12 years. It's strange to me to see a lot of the alt economic blog types rip the Fed for its digital printing press and glom onto precious metals, only to move to something so..ethereal and seemingly easily manipulated (here comes the "you can't hack it" brigade...).

The ransom ware industry has been huge for Bitcoin. Many corporations are now hoarding bitcoin to pay ransom ware hackers.
We had to do this. It only cost me one bitcoin which at the time was like $400. The hacker was nice and gave us advice on how to handle security believe it or not.

Price can't seem to hold the $1,200 level. Every time it surpasses 1200 it gets knocked back down. Once it's holds $1,200 for a couple days, I think it goes to the moon

This article suggests no one really know what's behind the latest move in Bitcoin.

Just a day after reaching its highest value since its inception, there were many familiar markings of new bitcoin price activity. The milestone set off the typical slew of mainstream media articles, though it seems that every outlet offered a different take on the factors driving market activity. Quartz stuck closest to the prevailing sentiment, crediting the pending decision on the Winklevoss ETF, while TechCrunch cited strong stock markets and Bloomberg pointed to the Donald Trump presidency. Still, all combined, the reports perhaps show the lack of narrative at play in the currency market. This may be accurate, as it's still unclear to many how the price is likely to move going forward.
