Anti-Spanking PSA on the radio

I was driving home from work this morning listening to Dave Ramsey on WWL per usual. During one of the commercial breaks, an anti-spanking PSA came on. Basically said spanking children is wrong and violence only begets violence.
WTF is the world coming to. Tranny story time in the library, full on murder of babies, and disciplining your children is bad?

I love my little girls to death and I said I would never spank them, but sometimes the little shite needs a little pop to understand I mean business.

This is how I feel. There was always several layers of other disciplinary actions before I get to spanking. Only spanked my daughter once.

I think the only way you make it through the adolescent years without ever spanking is if you have an only child and its a girl.

Well yeah. every once in a while it serves a purpose. But if you yell at your kids all the time, they're only going to respond to you when you're yelling, hence the crazed mom shouting her kids into submission at Walmart. If all you do is spank, they more than likely won't respond to to any kind of correction other than a physical one

I love the "hitting your kids" phrase. You can make any form of discipline sound horrible and inhumane, and it's worked on much of an entire generation, convincing them that most forms of discipline are cruel and will screw up the kid. Anybody who looks at the average result and thinks we've made some big improvement because we no longer "hit" our kids is smoking something.
As for spanking, it was a tool in the toolbox. Not necessary at all for one, used sometimes on the boys because they were boys and stern looks didn't always cut it. It can be abused; so can time-out and any other form of millennial-approved "punishment". Coddling them and treating them like little adults is a different form of abuse IMO, and you end up with grown men and women who don't understand the world doesn't revolve around them.

In fairness, Spanking past the age of four or five is associated with more misbehavior, not less misbehavior. It is also associated with lower grades, lower self-esteem, And increased aggression. Not surprisingly, less educated people are more likely to use corporal punishment

Same here. Lots of other ways to alter behavior. I'm not against spanking but it shouldn't be done in anger. It is also kid-specific. Some kids react to just the threat of a spanking, some can be spanked daily and still not change their behavior.
