Fewer murders? Don't think that's a very unreasonable cost in exchange for locking up criminals.

Reasonable point. How many pot offenders are in max security prisons with the murderers and rapists? This is not the 1980s.

Do you think Steve Bannon's sentence is appropriate?

Do you really think anyone's issue with that has anything to do with concern for Steve's "feelings"?

Nope. Maybe some folks plead on weed charges if they have guns or other things involved. Not enough room in prisons in Louisiana for weed offenders.

This.

Idiots think these weed offenses happen in a vacuum.

The assholes getting major pings for weed are committing other crimes, the weed is just the topping.

It's like watching an episode of "First 48", where the victim was a good person, hard working, didn't mess with any of that "hood shite".....they only sold a little weed and stole a few things and had a stolen gun , but other than that, they were good people.....

I call it “surrogate prosecution.”

There is probably some nasty offense that is going to be hard to prove, but they are in possession of enough contraband to get themselves sent to prison. They go to jail ostensibly on the contraband, but they were ACTUALLY prosecuted for the nastiness that was too hard to prove.
