I only recently learned of it. I just couldn't put my finger on what was driving some relatives and friends to be so ingrained in the narrative and to reject any possibility of being wrong.

There was/ is no substance of conscious thought behind their statements and can't go beyond whatever the TV man or woman told them.

Truth is, they believe in the system because it's easy. They believe that the government has their best interests in mind. That the "trusted" news persona, scientists, doctors, former military, etc would never lie to them on national news.

So when you try to break their belief in the system by pointing out the fertile fallacies, lies, and truth obfuscation by reminding them that money and power mean more to these people than credibility, they reject you because they see you as a threat to their system.

They just don't believe that Fox, MSNBC, CNN, etc are merely entertainment for the masses to sell advertisements with a bit of "news" here and there.
