A few points I find interesting:
1. I certainly can find a difference between paying someone to cheat on your SAT tests vs taking a few pics with your daughter and a canoe.
2. Giving money to a fake charity only counts if they prove you knew it was "fake" in a legal sense when you gave the money.
3. How is this worse than smollett?

I think you misunderstand. The issue is not sentencing guidelines—it’s a prosecutor overcharging and not negotiating in good faith due to the headline potential of the case. I’ve generally found MA judges to be fair and recognize such practices. For instance Slobel threw out the Woodward verdict when Martin overcharged her. In federal cases, Steve Flemmi brother only got 10 years for hiding the weapons arsenal. There are others in the thread that are averting different proclivities for the judiciary in the Commonwealth, but I may not have their experience

Are these really people we need to put in cages? For 40 years?
Hit them with a heavy fine and comm service, but these clowns aren't endangering anyone.

I hope she gets some time just to smack some of the arrogance out of her and her husband. Make no mistake, when she looks at people like us she feels she is looking down, a little reality would do her and her family some good.
