real grown up.
For at least 40 years (perhaps 50), the Dems have behaved like children. Some of us LIKED seeing the GOP acting as the adults in the room.

Now, with Trump setting the tone for the GOP, Washington has become a room FULL of toddlers, with no adult supervision whatsoever.

But at least we are trolling Dems on Twitter.

Hankster....

As I said previously, I am firmly convinced that Trump's current temperament is a direct product of the tone that was immediately set in terms of the overall approach to him. Did he have novel Twitter/social media habits as far as Presidents go, absolutely. But I attribute that more to just the change in times.

But again, as far as temperament, it's borne of necessity as opposed to mere random personal preference. JMO of course.

Pulling troops out of Germany and threatening to pull out of nato is quite frankly stupid.

First troops have been being pulled out of Germany since the end of the Cold War. Most of what is left in Germany is all part of a corrupt garrison bargain between the Germans and the military. There is no strategic point to being in Germany, and the training facilities are marginal.

The alternative is having more austere and remote sites in places like Poland or Romania. This makes more sense then shipping military families to live Germany or Italy, but again there are "mafias" within the military who are opposed to this.

Europe is not being abandoned. Germany is not being abandoned. Corrupt and bad defense policy is being abandoned.

Don't let the press fool you.

Quick, name how many scoops of ice cream any president before Trump had with his meal.

Dead assed WRONG. He has RESTORED the United States to Big Daddy Leadership status, and even though some of our allies squealed like petulant children, they fall in line for the most part. Also, adversaries and enemies fear and respect the United States again.

I mean, back in Reagan's day news was actually news, not 24/7 editorializing. How was he hit up like Trump is, letters to the editor?

But he is just about the most awful guy to be delivering the message. His 13,000 tweets read like an immature, pouty, whining teenager, not the President of the United States. His braggart, inconsistent, one-thing-one-day-and-another-thing-the-next-day, all over the place style just erodes his message and discredits him. We needed a strong, mature, grown up, confident individual to be the bearer of this conservative message, and instead we elected a whiny narcissistic ignorant septuagenarian to the job. A man so ignorant that he didn't even know that North Korean state media functions differently and treats Kim Jong Un differently than how American media treats Trump.

In other words we needed the same type of Republican the Republicans have nominated in every election between 1988 and 2012. There were about 15 of those type of Republicans running in 2016. If those type of Republicans had been so successful at their jobs Trump wouldn't have won the primary. I get the shivering whim whams just thinking about all the crap Kasich would have caved into with just the slightest pressure from the Democrats and the media if he had been elected.

DJ, you know I respect your thoughts, but I disagree. Trump was a Twitter troll long before he entered politics.

One could even argue that he was a “social media” troll even before Twitter existed, if we recognize the NYT society page as being a precursor to modern “social media.”

IMHO, politics did not mold his persona, but rather he brought his pre-existing persona into politics.

It entertains me that so many of our posters cannot conceive a Republican who despises Donald freakin’ Trump.

Most of us were voting GOP when Trump was a card-carryin’ Dem.

He is an opportunistic, populist demagogue.

You bought his snake oil and think it makes you a genius. It is laughable.

The alternative is so bad there is no other option. Our allies are more of a problem than trump. Yes Trump is an a-hole but when you are talking about the leader of the free world don’t you want someone who isn’t going to take shite off anyone?

Who has taken over your mind

Have you finally seen the light in what the democrats really are?

Yeah Trump is a a-hole probably should keep his mouth shut at times. But he is exactly what we need at this point in history. As far as what the above poster says about what the world thinks about Trump, I couldn't care any less. The world hasn't respected us in a while with the way Obama kissed their asses. I would rather they respect us, but if they arent going to respect us, I just assume that they fear us and make no mistake they fear Trump and I am ok with that.
