We can't afford to put a retired vet at every school? The few things this country actually could use from the government (protect the border, protect out kids) they can't do. We just let a tranny walk right into an elementary school and mow down a bunch of children, and no one has a gun to stop this monster? I know it's common for the left to get all emotional after one of these shootings and scream "why won't we just do something", but at what point does the right get just as aggressive about the issue of "gun free zones" and leaving out kids as sitting ducks". How hard is it to protect our schools?

That would be 130,000 vets deployed in the schools. I'm not being critical of your suggestion, just want to put some numbers to it. What would they be paid - maybe $75K per year, with benefits the total burden would be about $100K (easy round number), so that would be $13B per annum, or about 25% of what we've sent to Ukraine so far this year.

I'd bet a lot of vets would do this for a lot less.
The chance to blow a hole in an EMO trans kid would be payment enough for some of them.

While I'll agree that schools need better security, I don't want the Feds involved in state education matters in any way. The Feds should just take less in taxes and let individual school districts decide how to handle security on their campuses.

So if someone’s at every school won’t the shooter just go somewhere like I don’t know a grocery store?

SRO’s make nowhere near that. It’s a 45-50k job for 9 months a year, at most.

Should we never do anything in any situation since criminals will always adapt?

We can, and it doesn’t even have to be vets. Ordinary LEO’s will do.
There are poor school districts in LA that do this at elementary, middle, and high schools, including private schools.
It’s not a matter of additional funding, it’s prioritizing the money already there.

So something substantially less than $10B per annum.

I agree, just making a point about how much money we give to our government and get nothing in return. Would just like the money to go back to the states so they can manage their own hires.

Depends on where. Ours make mid-90's before factoring in benefits.

Damn. Good on your jurisdiction. Hard to articulate a more worthy reason to incentivize a public sector job than guarding kids.

They like when these things happen, why would they spend money to stop it?

Our government says they can change the climate with more tax money but can’t keep illegal humans and guns out of schools?

Resources aren’t a problem. Could easily pay for it at $75 Billion a year easily. So what is the problem?
And I’m not kidding. The government is not in the problem solving business, not this government.

So fully funded for 5 years with what we’ve openly thrown into the Ukrainian money laundering scheme

13B a year for 1 vet in every school in the USA.
This could be paid for in perpetuity if we eliminated the useless department of education. I’m in.

Well, we’ve got plenty of money to waste on Ukraine. What not put that money to actual good use?
