What an idiot. I really enjoyed watching him during the hearings but he’s fricking trash to me now.

He happens to be a constitutional originalist when it comes to executives waging war.

The media may take advantage, but he will still be outspoken against dumb shite. For the most part, hes one of the better ones. If that is his belief or what his constituents would want, then so be it. Its not like he got invited over to Nancy's and got a sweet deal

Further proof that your average Republican is still a neocon at heart and will abandon any conservatives that oppose war and the Unitary Executive.

So you're not a conservative. You're a tribalist. At least you're being honest with yourself.

Gaetz is pretty consistent on these things. Keep up, toosleaux.

It would also be good for when a Dem is in office and they need checked.

Trumps execution was spot on and more than justified, who knows that the loony left would do, in a time where it could be a republican majority house.

No doubt a Doosh move. The Resolution is going nowhere. Disappointing by Gaetz.

that resolution makes Trump get Pelosi's blessing for any drone shot or anything.

Allen West said Gaetz's dad is a big wig politico in tight with the Bush's-- in Fla, and was behind redistricting West out. I think Gaetz could be like another Rubio/Graham. Big talk to get re elected.

The house freedom caucus put out a response supporting Trump's actions. This resolution has no way of passing it is a political attack on Trump. If they all really meant it no matter who was President like Rand Paul, it would be a different story.

It was a meaningless vote and it gave him some libertarian/originalist credit. The vote wasn't on what had already happened as far as I know it was just a "you will not go to war with Iran" which is not what Trump has done at all.

I agree. He really hurt himself today. Congressman Tim Burchett voted against the bill and explained why perfectly in his typical hallway video.

So you are saying the POTUS has to ask Congress for permission?

Exactly what revisions were made to the previous version/inclusions within the War Powers Act??

I'm admittedly susceptible to being unaware in this instance, but from what I could glean there are zero revisions. Rather, merely an admonishment for something Trump hasn't done and has shown absolutely zero hints of doing, i.e. hustling in with war actions. Seems to me that he's shown the exact opposite. Thus, more jabbing at Trump for no legitimate reason. Proving to the world yet again how divided we are, and that maybe, just maybe, it is a good time to attack us as the Legislative Branch seems to be hell bent on fostering the idea that Trump's up to something terrible and is being honorably fought within our own government, projecting division and weakness. It's a fabrication.

So really, it has nothing to do with curtailing "neocon" actions, quite frankly, because ain't no one proposed any damn neocon actions.

Believe it or not Matt voted the right way. It’s time to remove blanket war powers from the executive that were ratified under GWB.

I also believe Trump wants it that way. He has to pretend he doesn’t like it so it will pass in the House because the Dems are against ANYTHING Trump is for.

We’ll have to wait for the final version passed by the Senate. There will be many amendments. It’s probably going to be a scaled down version of the current AUMF.

this is what I was thinking & I can respect that

he would have made the same vote no matter who is POTUS

I disagree with his vote, but respect his consistency
