The founding fathers intended the military to be used against betas (the British) and communists (the Indians). The fact that we use the military against goat herders across the world and not the communists and betas on our shores shows how far this whole thing has gone away from the original intentions of the founding fathers

Our "isolationism" before and after WWI is almost singlehandedly responsible for our becoming a superpower to begin with. We as a nation got rich financing the idiocy of then great world powers. Those powers promptly collapsed. Now we borrow money from other potential great world powers in order to subsidized our military industrial complex and private international commercial interests. We spend more on our military than the next 10 countries combined, and seven of those countries are our allies, and this in the age of the Internet and The Bomb.
Look, if you need a fable to help you sleep at night after what you and your friends went through overseas, more power to you. But when you ask to take 20% of my taxes and burn them in some conflict that does dick to keep us as a country safe, you don't get a free pass.

There is a bunch of pussies in the military right now and it’s probably close to 90%. During my tours in the Middle East the same 5-10% were the war fighters everyday.
