Alan Dershowitz: Cohen 'Pleading Guilty to a Crime that Doesn't Exist'

Breitbart
And he did so under the counsel of his attorney Lanny Davis. Genius!
quote:
Trump’s former attorney, is “pleading guilty to a crime that doesn’t exist” to further Democrats’ plans to impeach the president. He offered his analysis during a Wednesday interview with Breitbart Senior Editors-at-Large Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight
quote:
“I don’t think there’s an impeachable offense,” said Dershowitz. “I believe you need to have a specific crime — treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors — and none of the things that [Michael] Cohen pleaded guilty to would rise to that level or even come close to it. What Cohen pleaded guilty to may not even be a crime, the part about the election campaign laws
quote:
Dershowitz continued, “Even if it’s true that President Trump contributed $280,000 for the explicit purpose of paying hush money in order to prevent the public from knowing that he had these alleged affairs with these two women, that would simply not be a crime. It might be a political sin, but it would not be a crime.”

I can't keep up with this shite anymore

Told him he could fight what was probably a bullshite charge in court and run the risk of 63 years in prison, OR he could plea to the likely bullshite charge and spend a few months in prison.
That's the legit choice the guy had, and I can't say I'd have done differently.
Now on the other hand, Trump is not going to agree to a plea for the same thing. There is no win for him to take a few months in prison in exchange for no possibility of 63 years.

It was a political plea deal. Make Trump look bad and we’ll give you less prison time.

He went on to say - what’s more amazing Is the DOJ accepted a guilty plea for a non-crime.
That’s unheard of.
For those who think the DOJ has been “fixed”.
The ones who want Trump taken down are still pulling strings.

The left knows this. They just want to distract and obstruct.
Hell, they’re the ones always pushing alternative lifestyles. In a heartbeat they’d champion a socialist candidate for President who’s a tranny pansexual polygamist.

Bongino put it into perspective. A political candidate gets a haircut before a debate. You could say the haircut is for him to look good for the campaign, but that doesn’t mean it should be paid for with campaign funds, because people get haircuts regardless of running for office.
Trump paying these women off could’ve easily happened even if he wasn’t running for office. You can’t say that a person wouldn’t do it to spare their family and him embarrassment in his own life.

This is being done to try and stop the Kavanaugh placement to the USSC.
This tactic is working well so far.

What's amazing is we have a rogue SP who is using every technique under the sun to get Trump, including threatening family members of Trump associates, and Session is standing idly by with his hands up his arse!

Yes, from my understanding of the law, the funds would have to be exclusively for campaign uses, and have no possible secondary uses.

And he did so under the council of his attorney Lanny Davis. Genius!
Does anyone else find it a bit odd that Cohen chose Lanny Davis for legal counsel?
Think about it, out of the hundreds of thousands of attorneys who would have not drawn a second glance he picks Lanny Davis, one of the most notorious Dim Snake attorneys that ever existed. It's almost like some dark nefarious force is directing this scam SC against Trump.

Well apparently he didn't even commit a crime so how does he plea for something like that?

Not those of us who aren't mentally ill.

Wrong, he most certainly committed crimes, just this one particular thing wasn't a crime.
Would be like Hillary pleading guilty to wiping her email server with a cloth and then saying "see I didn't commit any crimes"
It appears to me that Cohen is guilty of tax fraud at a minimum.
But, someone riddle me this, how does Obama appoint a tax fraud to head the IRS no problem, but Cohen needs to be destroyed for tax fraud?

I forgot about ol Timmy "turbo tax" Geithner.

Lanny Davis is such a good lawyer that he advised his client to stay in jail instead of accepting a pardon from Trump. Again, genius!

Dude, Deroshowitz is alleging that the campaign finance thing is not a crime, not that Cohen is innocent of all of the other charges. It's more like that campaign finance charge was wrapped into the plea deal. This isn't tough to understand.
