There are that many ignorant people in the world. It's slowly changing but the Big 3 nightly news programs still drive the national narrative for a LOT of people. If I owned all 3 I could make this a story that would have an impact on the national discussion and national elections. They know they have that power and they use it.

Thankfully our AOG was still being run by Vietnam vets during my last reunion. They weren’t interested in preaching to anyone, can’t say for sure whether that’s changed.
Last stat I’d heard was that we’ve gone from 46% of active duty having family that served to just 12%. Evidently we aren’t the only ones who don’t want their kids signing up.

The slide we've taken in 10 years makes me a bit horrified at what the next 10 years will bring. I told people "don't ask don't tell" was a mistake, and there were people older than I who told them allowing women on ships was a mistake.
