Also, it's humorous that a board that is typically so "anti-govt" and "anti-cop" is so pro punishment.
I think ex felons should be able to vote once they've done their time, but Holder making it a racial thing is annoying as shite. If he wants to make the case for ex felons voting do that, don't whine about it being bad for blacks.

Again, no one twisted their arms and told them to become felons. Actions = consequences. I realize many pansy arses in this nation have forgotten this, but I haven't.

so let's say you are 16 and have an ounce of cannabis. And get arrested. Its a felony in FL.

Should you barred from voting when you are 75 b.c of what you did when you were 16?

eta: they changed the law recently and reduced small tranfers as misdemeanors. Edited to reflect this

Yes, you should be barred from voting. The franchise should be reduced dramatically. My DIL has never committed a felony nor a misdemeanor. She cannot vote because she is Mexican. She doesn't care. The only motivation for Holder is to increase Dem voters.

Yeah, because all those criminals are just banging down the polling place doors so they can vote

I bet less than 1% of that 5.8 mil will actually cast a vote

Why would it? One guy agrees so therefore everyone must be in complete lock step with the guy, let me guess every single thing Obama says or does you agree totally with?

Correct. And one of those is not like the other. And that one constitutes over a third of all felony convictions.
Ah, you must be a druggie. Well, I've dealt with a 19 year old druggie for almost two years, and let me tell you if he gets caught again as an adult and gets convicted of a felony too Frickin' bad! No sympathy from me...never tried it...never intend to.
Drugs are bad...I don't care what you say. I have no problem with them being illegal and no problem with folks being jailed for using/distributing them. SO, whatcha got next??

Yep, too frickin' bad. And if you're 16 you go into juvenile court. You can go through (or cheat through) a program and get that record expunged. I know because I have first hand knowledge of how it works. If he gets caught again, he's going to jail. Booty frickin' hoo...you were warned.

Well, i would assume any human with a working brain understands that willingly committing a felony results in forfeiture of certain rights, such as voting.

What is wrong with these idiot fricking liberals? Up is down, wrong is right, criminals are exulted while law abiding citizens are demonized for living a healthy, rational, successful life.

I really question the sanity of any liberal.

Why? Isn't it possible for two diverse individuals to desire the same outcome for different reasons?

only because you can't grasp complex concepts.

Also, you need to get up in the Legislature, because LA restores voting rights. Buncha liberal idiots.

And prison sentences affect the African-American disproportionally

That is because the african american community commit more crimes requiring prison sentences. Seems like the AA community should worry more about getting their shite together, as a whole, than worrying about if they can re-elect the party that ensures they never rise up out of the ghetto.

What is complex about not committing a crime? I'm 32 years old and have not committed one felony or misdemeanor. It really isn't hard to not be a frick up. I'm sorry you liberals can't grasp that and need momma and daddy government to raise you. Maybe if you raised your own kids, instead of relying on government, then you wouldn't be such frick ups?

Citing Racial Disparities, Senator Rand Paul Favors Restoration of Felon Voting Rights

Acknowledging racial disparities in U.S. drug and sentencing laws, Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky is calling for the restoration of felon voting rights in state and federal laws.

The Tea Party favorite also says the consequence of those punitive measures is the chief culprit behind voter disenfranchisement in African-American communities.

"The biggest impediment to voting rights, right now, are convicted felons. One in three young black males has been convicted of a felony and they’ve lost their voting rights. I think it dwarfs all other (election-related) issues," says Paul.
