Nope. I didn't watch the bubble dweller trophy show and don't care what Adele says.

How does Adele getting blasted by cry babies on the internet compare to the mob that stormed Milo at Berkeley?

What did Adele do?

And Beyonce should apologize for her "not fat" privilege.

the articled linked within is scary as frick

What liberals dont' get about free speech in the age of Trump

quote:

This is the key difference. You can think whatever you like, and even say it without fear of government reprisal, but when you introduce force-multipliers for speech into the equation, things begin to get very hazy indeed. You have a right to a view; do you have a right to pronounce it to millions of New York Times readers, however? No. We have no problem recognizing this when it’s about something silly like Bigfoot, but the minute matters of consequence enter the frame, suddenly people are mystified by the very existence of standards.

To speak to so vast an audience is a privilege, not a right. To speak through a newspaper or magazine column, a TV talk show, an interview on national TV, a speech at a university, or a primetime debate program, is, by its very nature, a privilege not open to all. There are billions of people on this planet, each speaking their views at any one time, but they can’t all appear on the Today show. Once again, we intuitively grasp this basic logistical matter, but forget about it entirely when a raving bigot shows up, feeling cornered by an abstract principle into insisting that he or she be given not only space to speak, but the largest possible platform and audience for it.

so speech is protected until you get popular enough to have a large platform. then it's a privilege and is subject to regulation

We? You liberals do not hate the ACLU.

Please point to specific conservatives here claiming to love the ACLU. If you can't, stop with the #fakenews.

Unless you are admitting that you can't see the difference between pointing out the ACLU's ability to piss off their leftie base and "love" of the ACLU...

That's a different discussion altogether.

Progressives are too crazy for the ACLU.

As much as I dislike most of the ACLU sacred cows, I had the feeling that they would support Milo against the violence and rioting that prevented him from speaking.

I'd have really been disappointed if they didn't.

The current screeching and violence is going to wear thin pretty soon - they had better keep their efforts confined to their safe places in their coastal havens. If they keep that shite up in mid-America, someone is going to get hurt.

Not a liberal.

Well I am a conservative and I support anyone who stands up for freedom of speech and tries to limit government power. Therefore I love the ACLU.

Not sure how #fakenews factors into this.

They defended Rush and the KKK. This is right in their wheelhouse.

You intimated that this board of conservatives loves the ACLU now. That's mostly not the case and you know it. Thats fake news.

How much money have you donated to the ACLU?

You mean I made a joke about how wildly different this thread is about the ACLU compared to the one about giving cards describing the rights of illegal immigrants.

Some.

Please find any actually liberal position I have taken on this board. I am consistently for small government.

I tell you how. These people have the mindset of a Spoiled child. Nothing about them says that they are critical thinking, mature adults. Somewhere in their lives something went wrong.

As a card-carrying member of the ACLU, I have no problem whatsoever with some of my donation going to defending free speech rights for abhorrent individuals. Just because your'e a dick doesn't mean the First Amendment stops applying.
