Ole Split tooth

quote:

“Independent groups,” which are not legally allowed to coordinate with candidates, spent millions more, with most of the money coming from out-of-state donors, such as San Francisco Democratic megadonor Susan Sandler, who put $5.6 million into an organization called Power PAC that supported the Abrams campaign.

quote:

The Abrams campaign raised a record $27.6 million for her run for governor. Her fundraising prowess was particularly impressive considering tens of thousands of donations came from across the country, many in small amounts, such as $5 or $10.

Out of state money in money local elections should be against the law.

Period

No exceptions.

I’m sensing the old “turnaround is fair play” approach from Republicans. And I like it.

Another racist attack on a female minority. Probably white nationalists are behind this.

Completel agree. Its been really bad in the most recent elections.

The NYC and SF money has been pouring into a lot of out of state elections in Texas, Georgia, Arizona, etc.

Time for states to get control of that shite.

While I would agree in a perfect world, there is still money that can be given by the party...

What if I live in Florida, but my company maintains an office in Georgia? Do I not have an interest in who the Governor is? Damn right I do.

Stacy Abrams sucks, but the ability to "nationalize" local elections is a good thing IMHO. It has worked for Rs many times (94, 02, 04, 10, 12) We are just pissed at the fact that Ds have done this with Abrams, the Florida Gov, Beto, and a few other high profile races recently.

I know I am not even remotely embarrassed or morally challenged by the fact that I contributed to the challenger of Harry Reid, Tom Daschle, and a few others over the years.

How would that be enforced? I suspect that would be difficult to impossible. If you're going to go down that path, It'd be easier to have a maximum cap for campaign funds, or maybe a formal campaigning window like the British do it.

was particularly impressive

It’s not impressive that leftists on the coasts have such a case of TDS that they were scraping to donate non disposable income to a governor election in a different state.

To me, it’s insane.
