Not really slippery. While the 1st Amendment protects speech there is also legal exposure for broadcasting lies. Kimmel said Charlie's killer was MAGA and that's a known lie. They would have been next with a billion dollar lawsuit. I spent 35 years w ABC, CBS and NBC.

My guess is Kimmel knew his show was going to be canceled just like Colbert so he said that to get fired and be able to play the victim.

I’m here to dance on that bastards grave.

What he said was tame compared to many others. If late night tv was still a popular thing I don't think he would have been pulled off air.
Who is the audience for that network time slot? Elderly middle-class types might not be full MAGA but they're not bloodthirsty radical loons either. It's the same meek and mild demographic that preferred Leno to Letterman and Conan.

This is more evidence of the pendulum swinging back right......

Bill Maher definitely did this to get out of his Comedy Central contract and jump to HBO.

He will apologize and be back on the air by next week.
Nobody has a crystal ball, but my best guess is that Disney/ABC is pulling the old Step1/Step 2 charade. I think Step 2 will come within a week when they announce that Kimmel will not be returning.
Boy, Trump has really kicked some Disney/ABC arse in the past few months. First they had to pony up $16.5 million to Trump over a lie told by George Stephanopoulos, and now the pesky little mosquito JK might just be gone forever.
I can't wait for one of those idiots on The View to go too far.

I understand the sentiment but it is effectively burying your head in the sand.

Overton Window hasn't just shifted it's still shifting.
I really feel now that antifa and trannies are going to be canceled permanently.

He won't be coming back. He'll quit and play the victim.
Wish him a long, miserable life.

I actually tuned in to that shite feast last week to see what they were saying and they were surprisingly subdued and respectful. At least for the few minutes that I was able to stomach. Amazing what a couple of humiliating forced apologies will do.
