Works both ways. SNAP/TANF/Medicaid fill the coffers in these states. Hospitals and grocery stores are completely dependent on this money. You’d see services decline immediately.

I don’t think we will lose the 2nd. Way too many guns and people willing to die for it including people in law enforcement and military. They won’t wage war on their own family and friends. The 2nd is here to stay.

In those areas where people live off welfare. Which quite frankly I don't really care about.

If a state did implement federal government defying reforms like this, would you consider moving there?

What type of person would be in a position to move to Idaho or Wyoming to defy the federal government other than single, unattached people or folks without any meaningful family obligations or worthwhile jobs. Is your life so in the garbage that you would actually uproot your family, leave behind your job to move to a sparsely populated mountain state with unknown job prospects?

Hey, bitchatl. How’s obamacare going?

I hear premiums are still exploding. Any idea when I’ll come across that 2500 a year in savings?

They also don't go to those states due to a lack of talent and the inability to attract talent.

That's odd, Huntsville has been getting tons of business relocating to the area and it's in one of "those states."

It's almost like the states aren't some monolithic entity when it comes to economic prosperity.

What insight?

The state is responsible for quite a few things. They have a pretty prominent role in infrastructure, healthcare and education. Sure cities have a role in this too, but the state throws its weight around with regards to funding, standards, programs, etc.

No disputing this. However, it cant be an excuse not to change. The status quo is failing us.

Looking back at history... No revolution so long as there is a large middle class. Middle class people are content and content people dont revolt.

We will have to wait until the Democratic ruin America before and revolution is possible.

Me and my family have done well with our business, before I'd revolt I'd just move to Panama/Costa Rica.

Depends on my situation. I own a business that can be run in Idaho just as well as in Alabama. If I had small kids, I would do it. I dont living around low IQ ghetto trash like the BamaAtls and Brian_Wilsons of the world. Of course if there were a state like this...it would become wildly popular and eventually idiots like the people trashing this idea would move in and try to vote out the policies that made it a great place to live.

Idaho is a great example. Best business state in America and California roaches are moving there in droves

You middle-class white people just don't have a single clue.

The largest catastrophe to his this country in 2005, and yet people STILL didn't leave, what makes you think some government change of policy would make them leave?

For the record, the most common reason from people not evacuating New Orleans is that they didn't have any where to go to. When you're poor, and have nothing, when conditions worsen, the first thing you think is NOT, "Gee, I think I'll just move to Nebraska!" What really happens is that you just make these people more desperate than they already were. Large populations of desperate people is not what anyone wants in their community.

the irony in this statement.

Anyway, I live in a pretty nice neighborhood - median income is north of $140k.

It is in the city, so it does have its unique elements nearby.

Ah I gotcha let me revise my statement: I dont want to live near low IQ ghetto trash or semi-successful low T soyboys with gender neutral children

Lets say a gubernatorial candidate ran on a platform of defiance of the federal government.

I have thought the same thing. But the only way to defy the Federal Government is to graciously exit and there is nothing that can stop a State from trying again and again.
The key to the exit, aside from laying down in front of tanks, is how the IRS collects from citizens living in foreign countries. Point is that even if a State leaves, that does not automatically deprive it's population of US citizenship. That is a choice made by each individual. So if you are in a position where you must receive SS, which is the only true entitlement, you keep your US citizenship, become an expiate and keep getting your check. If you have a great job with a nationwide company, keep your citizenship. You tax rate is almost nothing on the first 100K you earn if you reside a foreign country (local taxes will apply tho) If you have no chance of ever getting Social Security, want to run for office, etc., become a citizen of the State. If you are on the US dole, better make plans, unless your State can get some foreign aid.

First State that bails wins, as those that won't work to keep from starving will leave. Those that work, can make it work.
