It should be part of Chapter 7 or 13s or whatever. The government should know they ain't loan sharks and have no business handing out money to 17-18 year olds online within a few minutes. Let the professionals handle loans and let these punks go to community college if needed. We aren't in the loan business as tax payers.

That's an extremely valid point.

Maybe everyone with a college degree should get a $50,000 tax credit. I mean... since we are throwing around free money, lol

How about give all tax payers a $50k tax credit. Hell lets forgive all tax bills and just start over.

Taxpayers pay enough for "free" shite now. I used to be all for helping college kids get a college degree but colleges have just turned that into a money grab by offering bullshite degrees that aren't worth the paper they are wrote on, just to get money out of dumb students.

It's like the mafia loaning money to someone they know can't pay and then basically using them for whatever they need.
Predatory Lending, and the schools love it, especially the non-state schools.

Oh I can charge $40,000 in tuition for my 120th ranked law school? don't mind if i do!

There are definitely some deceptive practices used by the schools and I would say moreso in the graduate fields, that full on take advantage of young, naive students with high job expecation but low real world experience. Without an appropriate guiding influence it can easily get out of hand for these people.

So don’t take out loans for that much. Live at home with parents and go to local school.

That's a big part of this. There are few 18 year olds out there who would know this. And even if they do their research as an 18 year old, who knows what the market will look like in 5 years, 10 years, etc.

I’m down with that plan. Use the parable of the prodigal son as your moral compass.

These young people were often hoodwinked by the powers that be in society to take the loans let’s help them out a little and charge those same powers that be for it. AND others that did repay get the tax credit!

This would have to be coupled with serious education reform. Most college courses are a waste of time and money just to keep you there for four years. You can take the basics and definitely electives digitally and have professors for the stuff you really need. There is zero need for some tranny activist adjunct to teach a room of 30 people Comp 1 at the community college, complete waste.

I recently talked to a guy that would have loved to have gone to LSU but went to another Louisiana school to use a scholarship and live at home to avoid debt. Should he also get the $50K tax credit and maybe season tickets to LSU games to make up for missed college life experiences?

Let the market decide the rate. Seeing a 12% interest rate for a gender studies degree from Yale should open some eyes.

Then again, don't tempt stupid.

As long as there is no credit check and everyone qualifies, how is this going to stop an 18 year old from signing up?

Student loans can’t be discharged with bankruptcy. Change that. As Trump has said, bankruptcy is part of doing business; why not allow it for student loans?
