What I don't understand is why is this a state issue and not a federal mandate issue so that the entire nation can adopt one time policy to follow. Seems pretty ignorant to have some states follow one thing while others do something else regarding DST.

ETA: in a few days.

This. Just stick to standard time and be done with it.

I like that it gets dark earlier during Christmas. Can we just change the clocks for that month?

Can someone explain why they enjoy standard time, where it is dark around 6 (now) and 430 during the winter as opposed to DST, where it is dark around 7 now and 530 in the winter?

How the frick can you prefer standard time??

The only somewhat reasonable argument to keep it I've heard is kids waiting on school busses in the dark... and that's a stretch.
I don't know anyone that benefits from it. Kind of one of those laws that just "is" because it always has been.
I fricking hate it. More daylight hours = happier and healthier population PERIOD.

1. DST was invented by Ben Franklin.
2. Studies have proven that there is no net energy savings by going to DST.
3. I get up at 2:30 a.m. every day so I don't really care.

Setting your clock differently doesn't change how many hours of "daylight" there are

Same here.

Simple. It's what we are on right now and I don't look forward to setting my clock ahead Saturday night.

This
I happen to prefer DST year round.
Could benefit many by easing the winter doldrums.

And the reality is kids will wait for the bus in the dark anyway. The buses where i live run around 6:30 am.
Farmers also like it.
I would be fine being on daylight savings all read around. But not standard all year round. Those summer months of having daylight until almost 9pm are glorious.
