To be fair... it's the whiny ones that protest, march, post shite like the OP... I reckon the good ones aren't stirring the pot- and are thus overlooked in the consensus.
I have an 83yr old Aunt and 83yr old Uncle that are similar to OP... I always blamed it on them being childless.

Your OP was just a tad more than that, I'd say. From memory I recall something about a letter to the editor not being printed, sadness over not being overtly invited to the reindeer games and how much nicer and more welcoming the dark side was.
