News reports stating that the separatist (pro-Russia) mistakenly shot down the commercial 777 thinking it was a Ukrainian cargo plane.
Debris field is 7 mile wide with plane and body parts scattered everywhere in that field.

The EU and the US are doing pretty much everything we ever would have done to protest Russian aggression in their backyard--sanctions. We should have re-opened Missile defense talks in the New NATO countries and conducted some exercises, but no one was/is going to fight Russia over Ukraine. Hopefully we can use this to leverage a more biting response from the Germans and others in the EU.

Common sense would tell you that this should have already been in play. Russia will always be Russia. They will always be our enemy. The fact that the EU is so weak, and the response from the EU/NATO/US was equivalent to a strongly worded email is pathetic. I saw yesterday that our government and several European governments tightened sanctions on Russia. Why weren't they tightened when Russia decided to take over parts of Ukraine?
