Politics related?

It will be when they blame global warming.

They are trying to figure out how to twist climate change, fracking, and the border wall into the reasoning for the earthquake.

China Lake has interesting lore associated with it...

Navy’s China Lake base closed, assessing damage after 6.4 magnitude earthquake

Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake was closed Friday as officials assessed infrastructure damage caused by a 6.4 magnitude earthquake shook southern California on Thursday. No casualties or injuries were reported, and all buildings are intact and standing, though officials continue to assess the 1.2 million acres of the base for structural damage, according to information posted to the base’s Facebook page. The base is located 150 miles north of Los Angeles and just northwest of Ridgecrest, the epicenter of the earthquake.

quote:

The United States Geological Survey has confirmed that the epicenter of the series of recent, local quakes was on two faults that are located aboard Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake,” stated a post on the base’s Facebook page. “There is currently a team from [the U.S. Geological Survey] and California Geological Survey on the installation studying the event.”

All natural disasters become political at some time.

Thanks mmcgrath for providing one of the rare opportunities to give you an upvote!

Now how can we blame the Trump Administration?
1- leaving the Paris Accord (global warming)
2- tax reductions
3- forcing Mexico to slow the flow of illegal invaders
4- a patriotic 4th of July parade in DC with military features
5- no infrastructure until Democrats stop coup attempt
6- Stormy’s Vagina
7- citizen question on census
8- giving Kim the Fat his life long dream of a photo with the Magnificent Orange SOB
9- international trade renegotiating
10- fracking

Now I would lean towards fracking since it is the most logical link, but isn’t really. But one can never underestimate the illogical seething hatred of all things ORANGE that the DNC/MSM Political Complex has!

All of the above, plus thousands more!

9's. And you have to remember that the scale is logarithmic, meaning that an 8 is 10 times more powerful that a 7.

Strike-slip faults typically don’t produce that magnitude (again - according to the current thinking). That magnitude is thought to be unique to subduction zones.

You may be right, which illustrates the point that current current theory may be flawed.

1.2 million acres, wow...

Since a large quake hasn't hit in 20 years there are probably many people that have no idea what one feels like as they were babies when the last one hit? IIRC: the last big one in San Fran?
