61% of Voters Reject Government Shutdown To Protect ‘Dreamers’ Program

A top Senate Democrat is threatening to force a federal government shutdown unless Congress does something to protect the nearly 800,000 illegal immigrants who came to this country as children who now face possible deportation. But most voters oppose a shutdown over the so-called Dreamers issue and believe securing the border is a bigger priority.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 61% of Likely U.S. Voters think it is important to secure the border against future illegal immigration before dealing with the Dreamers question, with 43% who say it is Very Important. Thirty-three percent (33%) disagree and don’t attach much importance to securing the border first, but that includes only 12% who say it’s Not At All Important.
Pelosi and Shumer are on the wrong side of history.

The government shouldn't be shut down for illegal aliens.

I'm happy whenever the Fed Gov is "shut down".
Any excuse is a good excuse.

I'm for securing the border will a wall, doubling spending for the border patrol, INS, and ICE. Also want to deport all these freeloaders!

Here's my response to the "Dreamers" supporters...
Suppose some guy breaks into your house tonight to steal your property, and he brings his infant child with him.
You get the guy at gunpoint and call the cops, who take the adult away.
Are you now responsible for his infant child (housing, clothing, food, education)? That child had no control over the fact his father brought him somewhere illegally. He should be allowed to stay in your house and you should have to pay for it.

It won't be shut down for illegals. That assumes dems care about illegals. If the dems force a shutdown it will be for ideological and political reasons that have nothing to do with dreamers.
Let the dems alienate themselves further.

Government shutdowns are bullshite anyway. All the important people still go to work anyway.
If your gov job isn't important enough to be required during a shutdown, it should be reevaluated.
And Congress gets backpay through shutdown days anyway. Let them shut it down. It only hurts them aesthetically.

First, in the past, this would have been a great play for the dems because the MSM media would have turned this around on the republicans and no one would have questioned it. That playbook is now over thanks to Trump, his twitter, and his based supporters.
Second, it seems like the shut down of the federal government is a good thing. If I understand it correctly, all essential services continue on any ways, so it is just the nonessential fluff.

frick the dreamers and the 17 third world family members each that they want to chain migrate here

I'm not sure what the real numbers are, but I am sure that asking the questions that suggest the desired answers, like Rasmussen did, didn't get close to obtaining anything close to the real numbers.

Yep. And, they end up giving "back pay" to those that DIDN'T work and it just becomes a vacation.
Still....frick Fed Gov in its gargantuan overreach. So, shut it down (even if just for a short while) so I can enjoy the thought of it.

The only non-essential parts of the Federal government that people like are the park services. They should make them essential then the Dems and MSM will have zero political optics during the "shutdown".

You actually believe most people want to throw open the borders.
Let the Dems do it and see what happens
