You also have to remember that businesses and even pensions invest in the market to grow wealth. Stock market crash would be devastating to more than just people with personal investments.

I also know that it makes no difference if "rich" peple own the majority of hte market. What's important is that many millions of americans own small peices of the market and have been exposed to massive, unnecessary downstream risks.

These are great stats, but here’s another one: 54% of Americans have retirement accounts (401k or similar) and each one of them gets a vote.
