Right off the bat a MEU isn’t 5K Marines dumbass.

I did not say that its multiple meu’s.

The meu sleeps on the same level as medical on LHD class ambibs and they hold about 1800 in the berthings, maybe a bit more. Ships company is about 1200 or so for LHD.

This action is the difference between Biden and his Administration -vs- Trump and his Administration.

Biden would give lip service and say "we stand with xxxxx" and proceed to siphon off funds sent to "xxxx" and no action.

Trump otoh not only says "we stand with xxxxx" he also backs up his claim with action. He gives 1 warning and it's up to them to FAFO. This is why Trump is loved and well respected around the world.

From my experience MEU’s are deployed to go in country. They aren’t being sent there on a joy ride on whatever LHD they’re riding on.

Then you have no experience. There are MEUs deployed continuously year round aboard gator freighters. They didn't just slap this one together and send it out specifically for the Strait of Hormuz. The MEU already afloat was redirected there.

We have also not been literally at war with Iran until 14 days ago.

Yes MEU’s are deployed all the time onboard amphibs.

What’s different this time?

As of mid-March 2026, a significant U.S. Navy buildup is concentrated near Iran, led by the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group in the Arabian Sea.

Over 10-12 vessels, including destroyers and Littoral Combat Ships, are deployed, with additional Marine Expeditionary Units arriving aboard amphibious ships.

Key Naval Assets in the Region (March 2026):
Aircraft Carrier: USS Abraham Lincoln (operating in the Arabian Sea).
Destroyers (Arabian Sea): USS Frank E. Peterson, USS Spruance, USS Michael Murphy, USS McFaul, USS John Finn, USS Milius, USS Delbert D. Black, USS Pinckney, and USS Mitscher.
Littoral Combat Ships (Persian Gulf): USS Canberra, USS Tulsa, and USS Santa Barbara.

Amphibious/Marine Deployment: USS Tripoli and associated Marine Expeditionary Units are heading toward the Middle East.

Red Sea/Other Locations: The USS Ford strike group has been operating in the Red Sea.

Us millennials are fricking sick of never ending conflicts in the Middle East where we have spent over $9T since 2000 (25% of our $37T national debt) fighting “terrorism” which has killed around 500 Americans since 9/11. Imagine if we put even half of that $9T directly back into America

Says who?

Then it was 2500 Now it’s 5000

Incorrect. The MEU is 2200ish Marines. The navy sailors on the ships carrying them make up of the balance of the 5000.

But we were told most emphatically by trump that Iran's nuclear program was completely obliterated in the airstrike’s last year

It was. This war isn’t about nukes. No serious person ever thought it was.

Maybe you don’t understand what MEU stands for while you try to educate me on it when I was literally attached to 2/4 and 2/6.

But go on and tell me that a MEU (Marine expeditionary Unit) are sailors. (Yes they’re onboard the ship but they aren’t sailors)
